Comments about CygoLite ExpiliOn 700 USB Front Bike Light:
I bike home from work in the dark farily regularly and I love the light quality of this light. It lights up the night and roadway where it needs to be. The light mounts very well on a helmet and is my preferred attachment vs. mounting on the handlebars. The rubber plug which covers the recharger plug-in pops out way too easily. I did put a little Vaseline on it and it stays in better. But it seems as if it could rip off easily when it is popped out.

Comments about CygoLite ExpiliOn 700 USB Front Bike Light:
This is a great light in many respects. It's easy to find the positives in the reviews. I wanted to post this review with one speciffic warning- a known flaw. The rubber plug that protects the female USB charge outlet on the headlight does not stay in. All great aspects of this light aside- if the rubber plug doesn't stay in- allowing water to get into the unit- none of the great attributes matter much if it gets wet! Even riders averse to wet weather riding may get caught in a rain storm. Yes, it can be taped. But it is an awfully poor product design that requires tape to be effective!

Comments about CygoLite ExpiliOn 700 USB Front Bike Light:
I wanted a light that could go from illuminating city streets at night to riding on a completely dark bike trail at night. This light does those things perfectly. In the city, I can use it on it's lowest setting, or the alternating mid-light with flash setting. Even on the low settings, there is plenty of light to illuminate where I'm going, and to shine directionally to give drivers a little "hint-hint, I'm here" look.
Having it mounted on the helmet makes it really easy to point exactly where you want light, and to look directly at drivers to give them a hint that you want them to notice you. I find that just a quick glance at an oncoming vehicle is enough to get them to make a full stop at an intersection.
The helmet mount could use some improvement. It's got a hook-n-loop strap that holds the mount to a helmet, but I find that it doesn't stay put as securely as I would like, and there's a bit of bobbing if you don't get it absolutely secure.
So far, battery life has been great. I'm glad for the rechargability, so no added waste to the waste stream.

Comments about CygoLite ExpiliOn 700 USB Front Bike Light:
Best bang for the buck on lamps. Has both a bar mount and helmet mount. Numerous light patterns for either the road or the trail. Easy to remove/install battery, which is important for storage. Compact so it's easy to stow away in a pack. Bright, the beam seems to be narrow, but it will illuminate all width of a two lane road no problem. I haven't yet done a night trail ride, just road rides with it. Worth the twenty extra dollars over the 600 for the helmet mount for me. I have a couple of bikes and being able to just mount to the helmet and go is a must!

Comments about CygoLite ExpiliOn 700 USB Front Bike Light:
This is probably the best cycling light I've ever owned. Advances in bike light technology over the best 10-15 years have been amazing. This light is a great improvement over the Expelion 450, which I bought a couple years ago, not only in terms of brightness (obviously), but also beam pattern. The 700's beam pattern is wider and really lights your way. Cygolite sells extra light mounts, so I bought a couple of those to make it easier to switch the light from one bike to another. For me, 700 lumens is plenty of light for the road. I live in the Pacific NW, so I ride in the rain frequently, and so far this unit is totally impervious. The only reason I didn't give this light 5 stars is because I'd like to see an actual battery strength indicator - something more than just the low battery signal. Without it I have to keep mental track of how long I've run the light on a charge and at what setting. But overall this is an excellent product - definitely superior to Night Rider, in my opinion.

Comments about CygoLite ExpiliOn 700 USB Front Bike Light:
Like the reviewer above, I had to get an O-ring to keep the battery in place.
My old (at least 10 years) NiteRider Classic finally gave out. I checked out the newer LED lights and liked what I saw. I was interested in the NR Lumina 650 and the Cygolite ExpiliOn 700. I sent off some questions to the respective manufactures on Jan 16. The very next day I heard back from the rep at Cygolite. Today is Jan 31, and I have not heard from NiteRider.
I got the Cygolite, and am VERY happy with it. The rep and I have exchanged e-mails, and he gets back to me within a day. I had two issues with the light. 1) battery came loose during riding 2) cover for charging port was hard to put back in.
The rep sugessted some Vaseline on the rubber plug for the charging port. Worked slick. He asked about the O-ring, and I did not have one. I can't say I didn't lose it when I unpacked the light, but the rep has sent one, N/C. Guess which company's lights and service I will be recommending.

Comments about CygoLite ExpiliOn 700 USB Front Bike Light:
I love this light. It is nicely compact and light, rechargeable, and perfect for any application where you need a fixed light... This light has now replaced my household flashlights. I would even recommend the strobe as a tactical light if it were continuous.
I found mine at an attic sale so I am not certain that the The one flaw I found was that the battery did not seat well and could rotate loose while trail riding. I added a rubber o-ring to tighten the battery mount. probably makes it more water tight too.
I have used this on my farm to spot light the treeline 400 feet away. Extremely effective. Highly recommended. Note that it is a fairly tight beamed spotlight as it was designed for distance biking. Beam focus is fixed.
