      After purchasing the 2012 Ultra Distance Z-poles and deciding they were way to flimsy to trust, BD has got it right (hopefully). These are setup for 4 seasons with 2 pairs of baskets and removable tips. The carbon shafts are much beefier then the UDs and the problematic Aluminum joint inserts have been upgraded. The fit quality is also better then my UDs, so props to BD. The straps are padded and very nice, but I swapped them for a pair of UD straps and saved 2oz. My 100cm poles now weight 14oz. Not the 9oz of the UD, but the swingweight is feather light and nothing like my 22oz Makalus. Do not believe the sizing chart. I palm my poles a lot and went a size shorter.
