    REI InCamp Shelteris rated4.0out of5by7.
Rated4out of5byfromVery nice shelterUsed this for a week of camping on Cumberland Island where we had heavy rain and wind. It held up just fine and once we got the tension adjusted no pooling of water. No leaks and never did it threaten to blow away

Rated5out of5byfromGreat shadeWe used this product for a full week at Pensacola Beach FL. last week. We put it up every morning and it provided great shade all day. We did buy a side flap which helped a great deal as the sun got low in the sky. On to days we had winds of 15- 20 MPH and with the use of stakes it held up fine. Setup and take down was very easy from day one, by the end of the week it took was less then 5 minutes.

Rated4out of5byfromOverall it was a good buyI am definitely not an expert on tents. To be honest, this is the first bungee-pole/easy up tent that I have worked with. So since I was kind of clueless as to how this worked, the instructions were laughable at best. They are printed on the tent bag and I think there are 4 and it goes something like, assemble the poles, drape the fabric, install center support pole, secure the straps of the tent to the tent poles. Good thing my fiance and I did a test run (2 actually). The first one took about 30 min and had our blood boiling. I searched for You-tube videos, but ended up just having to look at the online pics of how it looked set up to figure it out. The next day was the second attempt, and it went much better. Too hard to describe, so maybe I will just make my own You-Tube video ;) Anyways, once figured out it is pretty easy to set up with 2 people. It is pretty roomy on the inside and because of the slope of the legs, the shade coverage is pretty good. That being said, it does offer good shade, especially if you buy the accessory side panel (extra $), but did not seem to keep me any cooler than if I was in the sun. Perhaps this was because we set it up at a car show and the ground was radiating heat, I am not sure, but it was still very hot beneath the tent. The tent is very sturdy. It was set up on concrete so it didnt have anything anchoring the legs but it did just fine. It is not big enough for setting up over a car (would have been nice for detailing) but plenty big for 4 people to sit under. All in all we like the tent for what we will use it for. Its a good size but not overly big and not too heavy. IT seems like it will hold up well as long as no one steps on one of the poles. Just wish they had included some better set-up instructions.

Rated3out of5byfromAlmost a hitSetup on this shelter is easy, and the poles are substantial and sturdy. If you tighten it down well the top sheds rain without pooling just fine. The open construction makes it great for hanging up beach/dish towels - just loop them over the cross poles. The problem is that with the slope of the poles, the shelter will only keep a small 4x4 area in the middle dry, even in a gentle rain with no wind. So you really need at least 1 or two of the side walls (sold separately) to get reasonable dry coverage. For the price, REI should include at least one side wall in with the purchase. A good shelter, but a bit steep price-wise by the time you buy the needed accessories.

Rated5out of5byfromGreat shelterI bought this to use car camping. I read lots of reviews about this (which is fairly new) and others. After using it on a weekend campout it looks like REI read reviews on other products and worked hard to address any issues. I found this easy to put up (much easier with two people). It's sturdy, especially when guyed down and we didn't have any problem with the mild wind. I bought the side panels which were very helpful to keep the sun out; would recommend buying at least one. While it is free standing, it's clearly designed to be staked down for additional stability. I've only used it a few times, but it seems to be exactly what I needed -- a sturdy shelter for car camping. It fits conveniently in the carrier that came as part of the package.

Rated4out of5byfromGreat CoverWe purchased this tent to use as our own "aid" station at an Ultra Marathon. We arrived the day before in order to get a spot, and had to leave the tent up unsupervised overnight. It was quite windy out that night, but when we arrived back the next morning it was still solid and in place. It took me about 30 mins to set it up (and it was the first time I tried to do so). The only difficulty is with the four top connecting bars - the instructions could be more helpful with those. You have to figure out the appropriate direction for the bend in those bars - and it takes some doing to get them turned the right way. Once you get everything in the right place, the tent goes together pretty easily. It also comes down very easily. It was perfect for what we needed. I also purchased two of the optional side panels and they were very easy to put up and made it very "tent" like. All in all, I was very pleased.

Rated3out of5byfromVerdict still outThis is a curious one. Looking at the pictures etc. I was thinking this would be free standing (i.e. the poles would use tension of the fly and each other to "stand"). In part, because of this assumption as I set the thing up on the drive way I was completely baffled. Note, it is not advertised as freestanding, I made some poor assumptions. The tension of the fly ultimately does sort of hold it up but you MUST have either friction against the ground or some sort of tie down (pegs) to get the thing to stand up. My driveway was not going to provide sufficient friction (so much for tail gating with it unless I tie it to some anchor). The material and mail upright poles are VERY sturdy. The directions are pretty poor (perhaps only if you think the pole structure will stand on it's own). I think it will take less than 5min to assemble now that I know what I need to do with it. The real test will be on a backpacking/car camping adventure out west this summer. If the thing tends to stay in the truck rather than come out to shelter us from sun/rain I'll know then that it was a bust. Biggest disappointment was in the lack of "free standing" nature but it does what it says it will do.
