Comments about Raleigh RX Women's Cyclocross Bike - 2012 Closeout:
I'm 5'3 and thought it would fit well but when standing over the bike, I had no clearance between myself and the bar. I LOVE how light the bike is and how easily it shifts between gears. Couldn't ask for more in this regard. Took it for a long ride to see if it would work but think it's just too tall for me :( Wish it was available in a smaller frame size. Would be extremely happy with it if it fit.

Comments about Raleigh RX Women's Cyclocross Bike - 2012 Closeout:
I bought this bike to ride on paved, gravel, and sandy trails. I wanted something that could handle unexpected sandy areas, but not a heavy mountain bike. This is a great bike if you're tall enough for it. It's very light. I would guess it weighs as much as my road bike.
Unfortunately, even though it's a women's bike, it was not made for short women. I am 5'2" and the "small" version of this bike on the REI siteis too tall for me. Actually, the "small" listed on this site is the small/medium sold by Raleigh (52cm frame). First, the seat post is too long for the seat to be at a comfortable height for me. Obviously, that can be remedied with a shorter post (or a hacksaw). Unfortunately, when I straddle the frame in front of the seat, there is ZERO clearance between me and the frame. So, when I "hopped" off the already too-high seat, let's just say it was not the most comfortable experience...
Another minor issue is the seat adjustment. It doesn't come with the lever that allows you to easily loosen the clamp. You have to use an allen wrench. That would be OK except that I kept tightening it, but when I started riding the bike, the seat kept moving. I'm sure I could eventually get that fixed, but kind of an annoyance.
Unfortunately, the fit just doesn't work for me. I even thought about covering it with a BMX-type pad, but I know this is a bad fit and I would just be asking for trouble and pain at some point. I'm kind of bummed because it seems like a great bike, but I'm going to have to return it. :-(
I'm saying that I would recommend this to a friend, but I would have to say a TALLER friend.
