Comments about REI Rainwall Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
Used these for an overnight car camp with two high elevation gain day hikes. Worked good for blocking the intense wind at base camp and on the exposed peaks, breathes as well as I could expect short of being gore-tex but could use vents up near the waist where your jacket should be covering anyway. I definitely stayed dry despite the constant drizzle.
My one gripe is that my merrel radland mids would not fit through the leg opening, even with the foot of zipper. The pants are narrow right above the zipper, and my more flexible ankle could just barely contort enough to get my foot through with some prodding, but the other one was not going on with my boot on. For the price they are good enough, and if i used shorter boots it would not be a problem.
I ultimately exhanged them for a lighter but MUCH less packable pair with no ankle zipper at all. The REI ones are less "swishy" and baggy and I really wanted to like them, but taking my shoes off during a rainstorm is not my idea of a good time.
