        I bought it as a light weight clothing item to add a bit more warmth. The major purpose is to wear under the wet suit in cold canyons. It does a number of things such as adding warmth to the wet suit. It can cut down water flow if the wet suit doesn't have perfict fit and thereby add warmth. It adds warmth when wet and I mean soaking wet. I treat it as something that is small,light, & compressible that I can throw in the pack when canyoneering, hiking, or biking that will add a bit of warmth. I took it on the Kokopelli trail when it rained every day and we had cold weather when I expected it to be hot. It came in very handy.

        I don't like the color. The yellow shows the dirt easily and my activities do get it dirty.

            Bought the vest for the lightweight aspect and its got some nice color options- With that being said its about as thin as a piece of paper and doesn't offer much warmth when compared to other minimalist synthetic options. It will break the wind nicely however- I would like to see fabric lined pockets for warmth and the big fail on this otherwise pretty decent vest is the non-brainiac decisions to put in a pocket stuff in the back of the vest with a metal zipper ! So yes you lean back and get poked with a metal zipper when sitting- Oh well it looks good :)

              We live in a cool area year-round, and I wear or layer this vest when walking and on day hikes; very compact, although not yet sure how durable it will prove, as in tearing. But like it and would buy it again...for compact, light-weight travel use.
