Lightweight, butted aluminum frame is tuned to optimize efficiency in the climbs and remain responsive when descending
Suntour XCR-LO suspension fork has 100mm of travel to make butter of choppy, rocky, rooty trails
3x10 drivetrain is navigated by Shimano Deore shifters and derailleurs for fast and reliable shifting performance across the 30 gears
Shimano BR-M395 hydraulic disc brakes provide easy, progressive braking with a 180mm rotor up front and a 160mm rotor in the back
Sturdy wheels are wrapped with Schwalbe Rapid Rob tires, which feature a fast-rolling center tread with ample grip on the shoulders for good all-around traction on the trail
Full-length cable housing deters gunky buildup that saps shifting performance; replaceable rear derailleur hanger helps extend the frame's usable lifespan

Comments about Scott Contessa Scale 920 Women's Bike - 2013:

This bike was a definite upgrade-- much nicer components-- than my Novarra Matador. For a hard-tail, the Contessa has handled great on all the single-track I've tackled so far. Short wheelbase handles tight turns well! The flaw with that is my toe sometimes hits the front wheel on tight turns, which is why I can't give this bike 5 stars. Other than that, I love it!
