Comments about Exotac NanoStriker Firestarter:
I have used this a few times with the Coghlan's Emergency Tinder and it works very well. When I followed the directions for the Tinder, on the first strike, it lit right up! I plan to get years of use out of this. Even if you use up the flint, it's easily replaceable.

Comments about Exotac NanoStriker Firestarter:
I really wanted to like this thing. The design is excellent, plus it's lightweight and compact. I also own the Ultimate Survival Strikeforce and the Light My Fire Mini. I've used these "sparkers" a lot and have built many fires with them. This one by Exotac is terrible at making sparks. I tried to see if the problem was with the rod or the striker...it's both (but mostly the striker). I used the striker that came with this Exotac on the other two rods and could barely get a spark off either of them (9 out of 10 tries i couldn't get any). When I used the striker from my Mini I got some decent sparks off this Exotac rod, but it was hard and not consistant. The spark clusters were small. When I used the Mini striker and Mini rod together then like usual a big spark cluster. So the Exotac striker is useless and the rod is poor on giving off large and consistant spark clusters.
I did follow the instructions from Exotac and scraped past the coating on the rod (like with every sparker). Honestly, it's just overall terrible. I truly would never want to rely on this thing when it really counts. I wanted to like it so bad since the design is cool plus it's size and weight would be perfect for lightweighters and minimalists. Sorry, not worth it. I'll stick with my Mini. A tad more weight and bulk, but the thing can start a fire in an instant. The Exotac can't even make a tiny spark. Oh well. Going to return it (WAY too expensive in the end). Perhaps I got a bad one if others are having luck. Or they're just mesmerized by the cool factor.

Comments about Exotac NanoStriker Firestarter:
I recieved this as a gift for Christmas, and of course the first thing I wanted to do was use it. I wanted to know how well it did. So I went to the backyard and gave it a try, it was easy to open, set up and with one strike I had a small fire going in a light wind. I know what I want to add to the next set of stocking stuffers, as well as gifts to my freinds and teammates who are into the outdoors.

Comments about Exotac NanoStriker Firestarter:
the exotac nanostriker has benefits of ferrocium rod and magnesium combined in such a small and lightweight package that can be carried in any kit or keychain you take into the woods.

Comments about Exotac NanoStriker Firestarter:
Easy to use. Works well. The fire starter rod is replaceable. The whole thing is so light, small and easy to take along, everyone should have one in their back pack, tacklebox, emergency kit and one on a key ring!
My only disappointment with the NanoStriker Fire Starter was the spare O Rings promised in product description were not in the packaging and per Customer Service, the extra O Rings don't come with it anymore.
