I ordered a size smaller than normal after reading other reviews and sent them back for my normal size. For me they fit true to size. Wore these for a week straight while cruising the caribbean. Everything from hiking the El Yunque in Puerto Rico to the shops, beaches and rain forests in Grenada and all the other islands in between. Light weight, comfortable and just enough protection from small rocks and pebbles. Would definitely recommend these.

So just a quick update on the Zilch. I still love them! Just a word of caution, they are not and do not claim to be water shoes. I repeat, these are NOT water shoes!! If you put your foot in water with these on you will instantly feel like you are walking on grease! It is almost dangerous (I would actually say it IS dangerous)how slippery your feet feel in these when they have been fully submerged! Your feet slip in the shoes as well as the sole slips on the rocks. As long as they are soaked this will go on even out of the water. Though sweat does not cause this phenomenon. My brother -in-law has the Zilch as well and he experienced the same exact effect.The flip side is I have now done a 4+ mile hike over less than perfectly kept rocky trail and these did great except for the log I kicked and almost broke my toe, but again, these are open toed shoes and you just run that risk. Also, I just did a quick 2 mile jog in them and WOW, they were actually really comfy for that as well! I will probably keep wearing them for my super short runs like that.So in summary, buy these for EVERYTHING except getting them wet. Don't do it. They are like Gremlins. You do NOT want to get them wet!
