I have 2 feet that are different sizes and widths and tried several different hiking shoes from REI & none were comfortable for long hikes. I happened to see these on clearance & am I thrilled with their fit and comfort, from the first time I wore them. I've only had them for 2 months so I can't comment on their longevity. They are waterproof, but I haven't hiked through puddles, rain or snow so that is untested at this time.
