The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Black Diamond Magnetron RockLock Locking Carabineris rated4.75out of5by12.
Rated4out of5bystupidfromImproved, but not ultimate yet. This product is a great step forward in climbing technology it is dependable and easy to use, unless you are wearing gloves, so it's not so great in cold weather. I would like to see it with a wide mouth, and a gate rotated at a 15 degree angle to allow it to open farther.

Rated5out of5byT O Double DfromSo cool.I was on a guided outdoor climb and a few of the guys had these. I instantly had gear envy and went out and got one ASAP. This works great when you're constantly swooping climber/belayer. It takes some of the worry about forgetting to lock your 'biner away, but we still always check it. Is it worth the price? For me the cool factor said yes. You'll have to decide if having a slightly easier to operate, but infinitely cooler, 'biner is worth the added cost.

Rated5out of5byGearCollectorfromGreat, easy to use carabinerAfter purchasing multiple screw lock and twist lock carabiners i decided to give this one a try. I was not disappointed, its incredibly easy to open, has held up just fine on any climbs, and has yet to show signs of damage. The only possible downside to this is that since it is easy to open, there is a risk of opening it accidentally, but it has yet to happen. All in all I would definitely purchase another one

Rated4out of5byCA MarcfromFantastic biner; 5 stars if lower priceI top-rope indoors with a partner 5-6 hours a week. I bought this to replace my decade old Petzl Attache biner.
As one who detaches/reattaches my belay device every time my partner and I swap out the top-rope, I can tell you that switching to the Magnetron has been well worth the investment: it is a single-hand operation that only takes a second; it is a huge time saver, and I love that.
Standing at 5'5, I was worried that it might be too big for me to use the one-handed operation; testing this in the store, I mastered it rather quickly (although I will say that if my hands were slightly larger, it would be easier).
Before buying this biner, I encourage you to try it in the store and make sure it is something you will like rather than buying it thinking you can return it if you don't like it: REI has to destroy any climbing safety gear that someone buys and returns (even if it was never used).
If the price were around $18, I'd give it 5 stars....but at 2.5 times the cost of other biners, I am giving it 4 stars, but a glowing 4 stars indeed.
If you are climbing outdoors, which has many less biner swaps than a gym, I don't know if you'd find the value that great.

Rated5out of5byG4fromSafe, Fast, EasyTook me one day to get the feel. Now I don't use anything else, espeacially for belaying. Device is easy and fast to use, locks and unlocks easily with minimal effort.

Rated5out of5byJakeness019fromGreat CarabinerI got this magnetic carabiner because it was just so fascinating. It locks every time and now I want to use nothing else. The lock is amazing and is so simple. When it comes to teaching others it makes it simple where you don't have to check all the time to make sure it is locked. The lock is still very strong and I actually feel safer using it then a screw gate locking device. I actually plan on buying a few more of these because it is an amazing piece of technology. If you haven't bought one yet, you need to jump on this great device.

Rated5out of5byWhogirl1290fromFun BinerI initially bought one of these as a gag for a fellow climber (one that has climbed for 9+ years). At first glance it is a pricey piece of gear that doesn't really improve upon the original screwgate. However, we had a lot of fun using it (we sound like children). But, just pinch and go. Simple, clever and easy to use. So, while I say this is a completely unnecessary purchase, I also say that it is a unique piece of equipment and if you have the extra few dollars to spare, I definitely recommend it.

Rated4out of5byMtn Man MattfromSolid performanceI've been using the Magnetron for a few weeks and have been very pleased. With any new type of technology I'm always a little skeptical of how it will perform in the long-run, and thus far have had no signs that would indicate the locking mechanism could fail.
The only thing that makes me weary is that you can't tell just by taking a quick look at the carabiner if it is locked. You can only make that assumption without physically testing it, though, it has never failed to lock. In contrast, other auto-lockers and twist locks show a red band around the device when unlocked. Because of this, I am hesitate to give this carabiner to a beginner...then again it is pretty fool proof.
