Comments about Kako ICEtrekkers Chains Traction System:
These do a great job at providing traction in areas with packed snow. They can, however, come loose from the shoe and get lost on the trail if you don't realize this has happened. Never happened for me or my wife but I've met a few people on trails who had lost a chain somewhere along the trail ... Could be they just got the wrong size.

Comments about Kako ICEtrekkers Chains Traction System:
Good traction in snow or rough ice.
Like having ball bearings on your shoes on smooth, slick ice like you would find on sidewalks after thaw/freeze.

Comments about Kako ICEtrekkers Chains Traction System:
I take my dog on a 2-mile trail hike every night or through the neighborhood if it's too icy/snowy to get to the trails. Two nights ago the trail was icy enough to make me nervous, so I bought these. We got several inches of snow the same day and I couldn't believe the difference they made! I don't have great balance and am timid when the conditions are slick. I didn't slip even once - even an inch - wearing these and I know the conditions were bad. And this was despite my dog pulling on the leash. I am very pleased with this purchase and hope they will hold up to frequent use.

These are great with my Joan of Arctic Sorel boots! I can shovel and move on ice with no worries.

Comments about Kako ICEtrekkers Chains Traction System:
i have used micro spikes in the past and was looking for something to replace them and purchased these
you first need to know what conditions you are going to be using these in, if you are going to be using them in snow or hard packed snow then the chanis do just as good as job as the micro spikes
where these come up short vs the micro spikes is on glare ice, the chains just don't cut into the ice like the micro spikes, if i had to try and put a number on it, i would say with the micro spikes on glare ice i feel like there is 1%-5% chance i minght fall and with the chains i would say it's more like 10%-15% chance of falling
but if you will be using them on hard packed snow or fallen snow then save the $30 and buy these, but if it's mostly glare ice then definitely go with the micro spikes
one thing about the micro spikes, after alot of use they will lose some of their grip too as the points wear down, when that happens you can take a dremel with a grinding wheel and re-sharpen the rounded points to bring the traction back up
for the $ i would buy these agian
