I bought this as a mid-weight jacket for use in cold-weather hiking and backpacking, as well as a mid-layer under my down jacket when hanging out around the campfire. It is comfortable, looks good, and fits well both on its own (with a light/mid-weight exercise-shirt below) or under an additional layer. I have only worn it while backpacking once (I tend to run very hot so don't wear much while in action) and it was great. If I were to use it more for exercising I'd probably want pit-zips, which this jacket doesn't have.
