The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Original Candle Lantern Kit:
I love this thing! It gives light and heat, which can literally save your life. I use it inside the tent, and I can read with it if I hold the book just right, and there's plenty of light to organize, change cloths, etc... Burning this for even a half an hour at night before bed does seem to make a noticable difference in the amount of condensation in the morning.
One tip, the handle and chain get hot when it's burning, so if you're going to hang it from your tent, tie a piece of cordage onto the tent and hang it from that. I don't know what would happen, but it gets hot enough that I've never wanted to find out. (I gave it a 5 despite the fact that nothing is ever perfect, because I really do think it's something that everyone, even ultralight backpackers, should take with them.)

Comments about Original Candle Lantern Kit:
This is a compact lightweight lantern perfect for long lasting low level light. The lantern puts out insufficient light for things like reading even with the reflector I bought for it. Its great for illumination in my tent so i don't have to fumble around in the dark. And it takes up almost no room.I really like this lantern.

Comments about Original Candle Lantern Kit:
Although it looks like a lot to have for a simple candle, its proven to be a versatile item in our multiday and emergency packs. with the glass chimney in place, it is good at staying lit during heavy winds and rain (i typically hold it from the base, walking in the rain using the hanger dripped water sometimes and snuffed it) coccoon included in the kit adds 1.6 oz, i always use it so i don't know if the candle is more prone to crushing without it. keep it handy when its time to start up your mates stove or campfire and save your matches or firesteel. the light output is less than a headlamp but the heat output is a great advantage. warms the tent enough to keep condensation at bay in the morning and is a great sight to rouse yourself up with when you have a piping hot cup of tea and a dry, slightly warmer tent to exit from. the chimney stand is sturdy enough to hold a snow peak titanium cup with 200ml of water on top. i used my shoes to keep it steady with the cup on top and got the added bonus of dry and warm shoes =). It will get the water up to 150 degrees after about 20 minutes (max 170). yes its slower than a propane stove, but if you light the lantern as soon as you wake up, you'll have hot food and liquid by the time you've dressed and convinced yourself to go outside, and you didn't use up any propane. burn time varies, we have gotten 10 hours out of the plain white ones, ran it for about 2 hours a day and got 5 days of camping with it. it is very important to remove all excess wax when changing the candle, use the excess for tinder wicks!

Just got this kit. Tried it out at home and I already love it. Most of the more negative reviews I have seen on the other lanterns I can sum up with too high of expectations. It is a candle lantern so the light quality is not going to be that of an LED lantern. Where this lantern is better than an LED one is it gives off heat, so you can use it in your tent to help keep it warm.
I was thinking about getting the micro lantern that runs off tealight candles, but once I got to the store and looked at the two the micro was a little disappointing looking. the micro is wider than this one and since it runs off tea lights that only have half the burn time as the candles this lantern runs off of I decided to pay the extra money and go with the full sized one.
It is remarkable light and skinny, it will be great for backpacking especially when you can't have a fire. I look forward to many great outings with this lantern.
The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because you will still need to take a battery operated light, so its not like this product will eliminate something from your pack.

Comments about Original Candle Lantern Kit:
Nice little kit. I like the case as it provides good protection. The candle lantern is of good quality and put out a nice glow. Don't expect it to shine like the sun. It is, after all, a candle. It's not a magical device. I bought it to hang on the ridgeline of my hammock as it doesn't put out a ton of heat that would ruin my tarp.
Let's talk about that reflector. It has an almost flat finish. I broke out the rotary tool and polished it to a mirror shine. It made a ton of difference. You will also need to take a pair of pliers and squeeze the mounting tab as the fit is loose. This gave the kit the 4 star rather than 5 star review.
Side note for REI: It would be nice if you stocked the citronella candles and the Pac Flat Candle Lantern Reflector. I really don't want to order them from Campmor. Business with y'all is so much more painless.
