Comments about Sierra Designs Gnar Lite Down Jacket - Women's:
I haven't found all the uses for this yet as I just bought it. It was great for XC skiing and was very light and packable when I warmed up. The purple color is very attractive and though the sleeves are fashionable slim they are roomy enough for two layers.

Comments about Sierra Designs Gnar Lite Down Jacket - Women's:
I wanted a down sweater that I could wear alone and also under my waterproof shell as a mid layer. This coat is perfect--adding a lot of warmth with almost no bulk and nearly no weight. I have worn it nearly everyday since purchasing it a month ago. I am warmer and happier now.

Comments about Sierra Designs Gnar Lite Down Jacket - Women's:
I bought this jacket because I needed a jacket that would pack down really small, but keep me warm too. It's so lightweight I was afraid I would be cold wearing it with just my base layer and a simple vest, but it kept me warm. I was a little cold when I wasn't moving, but other than that the jacket is awesome. It was also very windy that day too.

Comments about Sierra Designs Gnar Lite Down Jacket - Women's:
I was not given this product as a gift and I am not being otherwise compensated for writing this review.
I bought this jacket with a little bit of hesitancy- there are other brands that I associate with greater quality and design. There were no reviews when I bought, so I was flying blind! I've owned the jacket and worn it almost daily for three months. So far, it's been a trusty workhorse. I use it for hiking and backpacking and also use it for outdoors activities like yardwork and dog-walking. Temperature-wise, I've used it for outdoor activities into the low 30's, with one layer underneath, and have been very warm- I would trust it (with another layer) into the teens. So far it's stood up to light misty rain just fine, and layers great under a rainjacket during heavier precip. I was also impressed that when I caught it on a thorn, the material, lightweight as it is, did not get torn. I've had several compliments on how well the jacket fits me, I think in part to the hidden drawstring at the waist that can be taken in to prevent drafts. As with all down, it does great with temperature regulation and breathes nicely.
Pros: Love the thumb-holes and the longer sleeves- I use them a lot. Perfect for when you don't want to worry about gloves, but need a little warmth. This jacket is feather-light, and packs down quite small- way better than my bulky 3-way jacket that I used to use. It can double as a pillow, too, in its stuff-sack.
Cons: I do see small feathers wafting in the air sometimes, and the stitching of the edging on one cuff has come apart. Also, I worry that as it hangs, the feathers will migrate from the shoulder area to the bottom of the jacket. This would be the same for all down jackets, though.
Overall, I do recommend this jacket. I've been very satisfied with my purchase to date.
