Comments about The North Face Janey II Winter Boots - Women's:
I had been looking for a stylish pair of winter boots with REAL traction that actually fits my fat calvs...actually kinda hard to find, believe it or not, Until I happened upon these sweet soles while searching for a completely unrelated item at REI.
Not only do they look fabulous, but they are warm. OH SO WARM (my toes are always cold) and very comfy too. My feet don't feel like they are sweating but are nice and toasty. I happened upon a patch of ice and tip toed my way across at first but these things actually have pretty good traction...started walking a little more confidence across the ice and I didn't slip once! So, stylish (for outside or inside use) warm, comfy and I won't fall on my bum.
I give them two enthusiastic thumbs up. I'm SOOOOOOOOOO set for the next couple of winters. I just hope they hold up under a lot of use...we shall see!

I (Victoria)wear a size 11 womens boot and can't always find footwear that fits well and perfroms as advertised. These boots are just about the best fitting and performing boots I've ever owned.

Comments about The North Face Janey II Winter Boots - Women's:
I bought these because they were on sale and looked like a good mix of style and function. Little did i know they would become my go-to boots for cold weather camping! I use them primarily in cold weather, no snow and not freezing temperatures. They're a little dirtier now, but they have held up beautifully. 18 months and there's still no noticeable wear on them. The temperature-sensitive tread hasn't worn down either, like I read it would if the boots weren't exposed to freezing temperatures. My only real complaint is that I have to wear them with socks; the faux-fir lining makes the boot too warm without them.

Comments about The North Face Janey II Winter Boots - Women's:
The lace up back is not just a decorative detail -- it is open, like the shoelaces on your running shoes. There is a small "tongue" under the laces and it is not sewn to or sealed to the boot. This means if you step into a snowdrift, like when sledding with the kids, you will get snow into your boot and cold, wet feet. Poorly designed for snow activities. I returned the boots after ordering them online.

Comments about The North Face Janey II Winter Boots - Women's:
These boots are perfect. They adjust in the back so that you can make them fit you. They are perfect for ladies with athletic calves because they do lace up the back! Perfect for walking around the cold, icy, snowy campus at MSU!

Comments about The North Face Janey II Winter Boots - Women's:
I am not trying to get into a debate about whether or not these boots are made for the, shall we say, voluptuously-calved ladies. But I do, and I really DO, have large calves; I think they measure about 17-18 inches at the widest part. "Athletic" is the nicest way to describe them, but if they are not athletic, they're just, well, big. I've ALWAYS had to get the wide-calf version of dress boots, and even those sometimes don't fit me. I've been on the look-out for comfy boots that can be dressed up or dressed down for WAY TOO LONG, and I have finally found some that fit over my legs in skinny jeans. The back tongue could be wider, I guess that's the one drawback of this boot, because if my calves were even bigger than they are, some tights/jeans might peek through.
In addition to their girth, they're just plain awesome. Super comfy, warm, and so far waterproof in the snow. I did treat them with a spray-on waterproofing treatment because I just wanted to be safe. To be fair, these probably aren't the boots you want to go snowshoeing in, or for a long hike in the rain, but for in-town walks in rain or snow, they're great.
And for those who do not have the wide calf conundrum, I still think you'd love these boots. The lacing in the back makes them very flexible so you can tighten them quite a bit. Overall a great boot.

Comments about The North Face Janey II Winter Boots - Women's:
These boots are great! They look good with jeans, tights, dresses. Super comfortable, very warm, but not bulky. I have wide feet and they fit perfectly. Yes, they are a tiny bit harder to put on with the zipper on the side, but once I have them laced where they fit my calf, I just zip and unzip the side and slide my foot in and out. Is it possible that the larger calf reviewer just needed a larger size? They are actually somewhat stretchy. I wear them all the time in cold weather and after skiing in the snow and they keep my feet really warm.

Comments about The North Face Janey II Winter Boots - Women's:
I have had these boots for 2 seasons now and they still look new. They are very comfortable already, but I bought gel inserts they are cooshy. Warm for knee deep snow. Looks great with casual skirts and jeans. What i really like is that most snow boots are clunky, but not these. They are comfy without being bulky. Tried other types that were cute, but so clunky i didn't want to wear them any longer than necessary. These i will wear inside and out without ever giving it a thought.

Comments about The North Face Janey II Winter Boots - Women's:
I have been on the search for mid-calf snow boots that will actually fit me. These boots are super cute and the other review stated that they fit her bigger calf so I was sold. Upon trying to put them on, I struggled to even get my foot into the boot. The boot is very narrow and hard to enter into while trying to use your weight. Once my foot was in there I realized that there was no way that I would ever be able to even lace these up as the back "tongue" is not very big, I had a good inch of skin showing through the back. Contrary to the other review, if you actually have wide, athletic calves (not just thinking you do because your friends all have super skinny legs), these boots are not for you.

Comments about The North Face Janey II Winter Boots - Women's:
I have last years version of these boots and they are one of the reasons I can't wait for the weather to turn because I get to pull them out. They have good, soles (I spend hours standing many days and my feet don't hurt) and are very warm and waterproof... but the reason I bought them and the biggest pro for me is the calves...
I'm a big girl and I live in a town that is basically all hill... I have bigger than usual calves and have a horrible time finding taller boots that fit on my legs. These are customizable in the back because of the lacing (but still have the zip side so once you have the right fit it stays that way)... Plus they are just too cute for words. Hands down my favorite winter boots (and that's saying something as I am a Geologist and own about 20 pair of boots.)
