Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Lontra Running Shoes - Men's:
I've used them mainly for asphalt-bike path dog-walking and recently they started leaking. I mean, seriously, my socks and feet are wet from just dew on the grass or accidental step into a puddle. I love VFFs and waited anxiously for Lontras, but it seems to be a mistake and disappointment. Ridiculously priced short-lived performance. With water resistance no better than your sneakers, it misses the point, misleads and doesn't deliver.
I'm curious how VFF will address this leaky issue.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Lontra Running Shoes - Men's:
Truly great option for running in cold weather. My feet stay warm even as I'm falling into ankle-deep puddles in <40 degree temperatures.
I've always had problems with FiveFingers causing blistering at the seams, but in the Lontras the stitching runs along the sole and doesn't irritate me at all.
The neoprene lining started off tighter than most FiveFingers I've used, but after a week of wearing them around the house it had loosened up to fit like I expected. The cuff is hard to get around the heel of your foot the first few times but loosens up as well. Fits true to my standard FiveFingers size.
If you've ever worn the TrekSports, this sole is very similar, but not as built up in the arch. This is a huge plus in my opinion. Groundfeel obviously takes a hit due to the thicker sole, but it's a fair tradeoff for the extra traction that will come in handy in slippery conditions.
Couldn't have asked for a better pair of cold weather barefoot shoes. Can't wait to try these out in the snow.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Lontra Running Shoes - Men's:
Vibram's first water resistant shoe is an awesome trail runner on cold and wet days. The Treksport sole and padding is soft enough for the road, but why would you run there when you've got these? My only gripes have been that out of the box I had one shoe where a couple toes were uncomfortablly snug. I stuffed the toe pockets overnight with 1/2" PVC and they stretched out fine. Also, the water resistant fabric doesn't breathe well so especially if worn indoors your feet get pretty sweaty. The built in gaiters are quite snug and may be uncomfortable for some, especially with socks, but they do a great job of keeping out the mud. As a use-specific cold or wet day shoe they are awesome and you can keep your toes free on those nasty days.
Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Lontra Running Shoes - Men's:
Ordered them early in the week and just received them before the weekend in time to run my first ever 5K. I've been a fan of the Vibram Fivefingers and have several other pairs. The Lontras were a treat to wear. They kept my feet warm in a slightly chilly run and were very comfortable.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Lontra Running Shoes - Men's:
I received my Lontras on Halloween day. As usual, quality and fit were as expected. The heavier weight upper doesn't affect the freedom in the toes and they run just like the Treksports. I wear VFF's at work as well as when I run 90+% of the time and they all work great for me. The Lontra is a use specific cold/wet weather shoe. For how it is designed it works very well. After a night of following our son around Trick or Treating in North Idaho, blindly stepping in cold puddles, through mud and wet sod, I was very impressed. My toes stayed toasty even without socks and the built-in gaiter worked like a charm. The flip side of this design is that the gaiter fits very snug and I'll be curious how comfortable it is on long trail runs. Also, I wore the Lontras around at work as soon as I got them out of the box and they are very, very warm for casual wear indoors. They won't be my put on and wear all day shoes when the weather gets nasty, but they will be the running shoe of choice in our months of mud we get out here until the snow comes and I'm in my Icebugs. Great shoe!

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Lontra Running Shoes - Men's:
I love these shoes. The only thing my previous pairs of Five Fingers were missing was water resistant and insulated, no longer. The Lontras are made of a stiffer sole than other Vibram Five Fingers, but for their intended us I think that is ok. The sole does seem a little more grippy, which is nice on wet or icy days. The fabric upper on them is noticeably stiffer than other Five Fingers, but that is only until they have been worn a couple times, then they are nice and flexible like you would expect.
They do as advertised, they keep your feet warm and dry, as long as you don't wear the on a hot day, then your feet will be sweating if you do. I went puddle hopping to see if they lived up to the claim of being water resistant, they passed with flying colors. If it is cold out and you step in a puddle, you will feel your toes get cold as if water is entering your shoes, but it is not, your just feeling the some of the cold transferred thought to wall of the fabric upper.
The one thing that may cause some people trouble at first is the neoprene enclosure around the ankle, until you wear it a couple times it will be very tight, at least for me it was.
As always, the sizing is dead-on by Vibram, so if you have any other Five Fingers that fit you well just order the same size and you should be good to go.
I would highly recommend the Lontras to anyone who has other Vibram Five Fingers and wants a good shoe for those cold, wet, or snowy days. These are one of my favorite Five Fingers to date.
