I bought these late in November so I've only used them for running so far, but I have a pair of Pearl Izumi Sugar shorts that I've used for my bike rides. I finally was comfortable enough to do bike rides of 25-50 miles a day with those shorts, and I'm sure the padding on the pants is as good. I've used the tights for running during the winter, though, and they are warm and extremely comfortable while being out in sub-freezing temperatures. They fit great, I have no complaints so far.
