Polartec Power Dry utilizes 2 different yarns on either side of the fabric to enhance comfort: interior yarn wicks moisture, and exterior yarn dries quickly
Combination of the 2 yarns helps keep you dry during highly aerobic activities because it moves moisture away from skin faster than single-component fabrics such as cotton
Fabric offers UPF rating of 30 to protect against harmful UV light
Flatseam construction is soft and non-chafing next to skin, and raglan seams are designed to work with pack straps at shoulders

Comments about REI Midweight Polartec Power Dry Crew Shirt - Men's:

I bought this undershirt for use on a road trip through CO/AZ/UT in the early months of 2013. I used it for sleep, walking, and some hiking.

Pros:
The fit (with a caveat). I am 6' tall 160# male with a model / rock climbing physique and it feels made for me.
Wicking- It does a good job of keeping moisture off of you & dries quickly.
Warmth- I think it does a decent job of insulating your body.

Cons:
Requires a good windproof outer layer, this does not provide anything in the way of wind resistance.
