The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Osprey Contrail Daypack:
I'm an urban commuter and bought this bag to use as my daily pack to bring to and from work. Sometimes I need to carry a laptop and much prefer to use a backpack for my 25 - 35 minute train ride to work. Let me start by saying that I LOVE Osprey Bags. This is my 8th Osprey Bag, and will definitely not be my last. I liked this bag because although it's a backpack, it still LOOKS professional. But that being said, I definitely wish I had NOT bought this bag. It is EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I didn't notice this in the store when I loaded it up with weight and walked around for 15 minutes. But sure enough, I found that after 2-3 weeks of use, I was getting headaches and severe neck pain because it sat so far out on my shoulders. And mind you, I only was carrying a laptop about once a week, and this was happening pretty much daily. Although I am female, I am not necessarily slim shouldered. Perhaps for the most strapping of lads, this won't be an issue, but I really just found that the bag was extremely uncomfortable.
Another gripe I had with the bag, and I knew this going in and was just hoping it wouldn't be an issue for me, is that it's REALLY thick. It does not compress down at all. I hoped I'd get past this, but when you're standing on a crowded train, or walking down a busy sidewalk, having your mostly empty backpack stick out 6" - 8" from your back is really pretty annoying. Also, it's heavy for what it is.
Regardless, within 3 days of switching back to my bright orange Flap-Jack bag, the headaches and neck pain went away. I will say that the organization on this bag is great, and that I loved the ability to access my laptop through the separate zipper pocket, but in the end, it just wasn't worth it to me.
