I have sweaty feet and large calves, so trying to find a boot where my feet don't freeze in less than 5 minutes outdoors and roomy enough for swelling ankles and wide calves has been a never-ending nightmare... until now. This boot satisfies all my requirements.

It's a little awkward walking heel-to-toe balance wise but I haven't yet worn them in the snow - only cold and icy conditions.

Very warm and comfortable; nice and roomy in the toe box. The heel is a too wide for my narrow ones, but that's pretty normal. I only wish they had laces or adjustable straps so they could be tightened and loosened. Still, a very cozy and cute winter boot.

These boots were a second try at something I could put on my feet. REI staff worked very hard at trying to help me find something, because I could not zip the Merrill's I purchased. These boots looked very promising, because I can manage the tension laces on other things. When I got them, I could not get my foot into the boot - no matter how I manipulated the laces. I would consider my feet, size 9, to be normal and my ankles and calves are not heavy. I think REI should refrain from selling this boot. I do not recommend it to anyone. Perhaps it's an error in manufacturing specs.
