      I got this pack for my 2.5 year old son and it's perfect. My 5 year old has the REI Spring 12, which is the smallest REI brand pack. That one is a little more form driven (less busy), this one is a little more fashion driven (typical North Face). This is a good size for an average 2-4 year old, but would be too small for all 5 year olds. I find sizing information on kids' packs to be somewhat spotty, which is why I'm writing this review. Good luck.
