Bought this jacket to ski Colorado this Spring Break. Temps ranged from -8 to 36 while skiing and this jacket did the job in the range. It is a little puffier than a shell but I wanted the extra insulation. I love the inside sleeve. Only cons I can think of are: no goggle wipe, wish there were a few more inside pockets (but the wrist pocket is great), and if you don't velcro the very top, sometimes the velcro gets caught on other clothes when turning your head. Overall, a great jacket though and am very happy with my purchase.

Velcro adjustable arm openings, a hood that stays up with no adjustment, easy to use double zipper and a perfect fit. No binding or tight armed reaches - this coat is well designed for use and comfort. The best wind resistant down coat I have owned after 20 years in Wisconsin & Chicago winters. It was definitely worth the price and then some. Quality product!

Bought it to wear on a trip to NYC in February. Temperatures down in the low 30s but felt comfortable.

A con however, is that there is a mock glove at the end of the sleeve to help keep wind out, but it keeps hitting the velcro on the sleeve and is getting stripped and fuzzy.

It's stylish, material is good, warm, but there are two problems: one is that it was cut too small. I bought a standard Medium but the hip is too tight. The other one is that the nylon material of the inner sleeve got stuck/glued/attached to the valcro next to the zipper! I needed to peel it off which damanaged the grey inner sleeve.

I bought this because it's the first winter coat I've needed in 20 years (just relocated to Denver from San Diego) and needed something a little heavier than what I had (windbreaker) and something that could take me into the mountains and skiing and hiking and snowshoeing. This coat was such a great buy, it's lightweight, fits like a dream and has lots of wonderful features. There are clever design ideas built into the coat that have the active user in mind. One small petty bother is the lack of a sunglasses cleaning sheet attached to a cord inside the pocket, which seems to be an almost standard feature in other coats. The only thing that truly bothered me about buying my coat (a white one) was the choice between black and white and that's it. There are so many lovely colors offered in other coat styles by The North Face so it was kind of a drag not to have them offered in what I have deemed as "My Dream Coat". But oh well, I still love it!
