Really like the jacket, it is lightwieght and warm. I would give it 5 stars but the collar feels a little high and a little flimsy

I wore this jacket skiing in the Alps in temps of about 5 F to 33 F with just a couple of base layers and was totally comfortable. A year earlier I wore the previous version of this jacket also skiing in the Alps in temps of -22 F and could not believe that I was totally warm.

Comments about The North Face Vortex Triclimate 3-in-1 Insulated Jacket - Men's:

I needed a snow jacket capable of a Quebec, Canada winter weather. This jacket was the most appealing of the ones I tried on. I used it for a 10 day trip in the end of December 2012. It held up very well and kept me warm the entire trip, which included skiing, snowshoeing, and camping in -5 degree weather. The jacket is extremely comfortable, warm, and durable. It also has a large amount of pockets in convenient positions that were glove friendly to open/close.

The only reason I'm giving it a 4 instead of a 5 is the fit. After trying on a medium and finding it restrictive to movement, I ended up purchasing a large, but it looks baggy on me.

Comments about The North Face Vortex Triclimate 3-in-1 Insulated Jacket - Men's:

I like it for urban biking. Not in love with it, but it's a very solid jacket. I expect years of good use from it. I might modify it--split the shirttail so it doesn't catch the back of my bike's seat, maybe sew in some reflective patches in the arms.

I don't ski at all--too klutzy. But for biking it's a fine jacket.

I do love the zipper though. Easy, solid, well made.

Comments about The North Face Vortex Triclimate 3-in-1 Insulated Jacket - Men's:

Ordered this for my 18 yo son for Christmas. He has hardly taken it off. I knew the quality would be good from REI and NorthFace, but fit is always tricky when you cannot try on. The boy is 6'1" and lean, so a big, boxy jacket would have gapped. While this is in no way uber-fitted, it does not leave a big wind tunnel running up his back. The liner is soft and snuggly, the shell is tough and well-made, and he loves the great pocket design and placement.
