Got this for my son because it was super soft and warm-looking. It has enough room in the sleeves to have a thicker long sleeve shirt under it, and it's an all-around great warm jacket to have in the late fall and early spring campouts. Just bought it, so I don't know how the piling will hold up, but the outer material seems like it would hold up very well in the laundry.

We live in Maryland so we really only have short bursts of "real" winter weather, if that. I came across this jacket at REI yesterday while looking for a good everyday jacket for my boys. Down is just too hot for them around here and they both wanted a "soft" (fleece) jacket.
The outside feels like well worn comfortable corduroy, the inside is teddy bear soft and super warm. A great everyday jacket that will keep them toasty all winter long.
It isn't waterproof but we have rain jackets that will fit over them if we have cold wet weather or go sledding. I'm jealous - if there was one in my size, I'd snuggle up and simply live in this thing all winter. Seriously!
I'm going to go back to get 2 more for my nephews.
DEAR REI - PLEASE MAKE THIS SAME JACKET (with thumbholes) FOR MOM AND DAD TOO!
