I bought the black socks that have the padded shin area in front. I needed that cushion in my ski boots to avoid painful bruising. I looked at the blue flowered PhD ski socks and they didn't appear to have the same kind of padding, even though they are marked as being the same sock. I highly recommend the black ones with the pink and white piping for enjoying a long day on the slopes! They've been warm, well-padded, comfortable and don't bunch up.

I use these socks for skiing once a week and outdoor winter cycling about 2-3X a month. They do a better job of keeping my feet warm than my old polyester ski socks did. They stay in place and I am much happier with them than my old socks. Both my kids also use these socks for skiing, too and enjoy them.
