I have been using these socks - almost exclusively - for running over the past 5-6 years. They are the perfect weight for a running sock, keep my feet dry (which is tough in humid Houston) and blister free, and are almost freakishly durable. I am coming up on my 100th marathon and 10th Ironman, so I spend a lot of time in these socks and cannot recommend them more highly.

I have tried numerous socks (diff manufacturers, models, and types) in my quest for a sock that wicks away moisture and is comfortable. Every time I test drive another product, I end up dissatisified. These SmarWool socks are the litmus test for other socks. They are worth the money you will pay for them.

Listen, I rarely write reviews because I don't want to take the time. However, I want to make you very aware of these socks before you make the same mistake I made. I bought four pairs of these socks and got them shipped over the South Korea (I am teaching here now). Unfortunately, I wear a size 13 and Koreans do not have large feet, so, I had to pay the extra shipping fee for these Smart Wools. The first day I wore them I had about a quarter size hold in my big toe of the socks. My toe nails are well trimmed, I got the correct size (XL) so I figured it was the just a 'lemon pair'. Wrong!! My second pair has done the same thing and all I am doing is walking in these socks, unbelievable, I've never had any sock perform this poorly (even cheapo socks you can buy from other 'retailers').
Please save yourself the trouble and not buy these socks, you will regret it. I am surely thankful for the REI return policy. Unfortunately, I have to save these socks for the next eight months and bring these socks with me on my plane ride home.
