Rated5out of5byAlanViaderfromGreat SweaterI'm always wearing soft shell jackets but was looking for a nice sweater to wear out and about without looking like I'm heading to the mountains on a camping trip. This sweater is perfect for those days where its too hot to wear a jacket but too wet for just a sweater. It is warm like fleece but unlike fleece it is very stylish and looks great on its own. Very practical in winter and its great for even a nice dinner party. I find myself wearing it all the time. The wife likes it too so that's a plus!

Rated5out of5byHugh ActonfromGreat looking and durableI needed a jacket or sweater to wear outdoors and in, and able to dress up, go casual, or do light work in. This sweater fits the bill. It looks sharp and the fit is flattering (I don't look like a slob in it; rather broad shouldered and slim). However, it is not for heavy work; it is durable but you'll sweat. Do note, however, that I put this to use in south Mississippi--not exactly frigid weather.
Rated4out of5byzambonifromNice to have, not quite perfectI'm glad REI is offering a warm pullover top like this. It's thick but light, the styling is pretty flexible, and it can be dressed up or down. The snaps work well and the collar stands up without poking your chin. I like the shoulder patches; unlike the ones on the Riverstone shirt which stand out and have a "cowboy" look, these work with the style better. I fully expect this top to get worn everywhere, including hiking and camping, so the patches will actually be practical abrasion protection for me. Length is good; you can raise your arms without flashing the world, but it doesn't fit like a smock.
There is a chest pocket that i don't see myself using. It's plenty deep, but really who puts stuff there? Unfortunately the 'tail' of the zipper adds some stiffness to the shoulder patch, creating the feeling of being lightly poked in the left shoulder (the right side feels great in spite of the patch). Also, the zipper pull kind of spoils the look of the top.
I'd have liked a lighter color, like oatmeal -- the shoulders would stand out more, true, but so many warm clothes are also so dark...
