I have never owned a North Face jacket before and I am extremely happy with my purchase. I was looking for a mid length lightweight jacket that was both dressy and casual. This jacket met all my expectations!

This was a purchase for my wife, who was shopping with me. She tried her "true" size and one size up. Both sizes were snug on the chest, although my wife is of average build - both sizes were loose at the hips, although my wife has balanced proportions. She went with the smaller size to avoid the "skirt" flare at the hips as much as possible. For this reason - slim chest fit, and looser hip fit - we recommend trying on before buying, or having reasonable return privileges if you order online.

Other than that, she is extremely pleased with her new jacket and unlike many other jackets has been wearing it a lot this winter. It is the usual North Face top notch quality and construction, and for an outdoor-oriented company, more fashionable than usual. She likes it with skinny jeans in San Francisco, and claims it is both warm enough to walk to BART and water resistant enough to make it without an umbrella in a light rain.
