I was looking for a minimal rolling carry-on that could also convert to a backpack. The Thule was both more stylish and could go from rolling cary-on to backback faster than both the Osprey and Eagle Creek. I only wanted the backback feature for navigating city streets or public transportation. If you need bag to act as a longer wearing backpack look for something like the Osprey or Eagle Creek with a hip belt.

Really like this bag, nice to consolidate and leave the laptop bag at home. The front pocket holds my 15" MacBook and some magazines. I like the ability to roll it in the airport and then pull out the straps and backpack it through subways, stairs and city streets where roller bags aren't the best choice. It's a bit smaller than a standard roll-aboard so it is easy to get it into some of the tighter overhead bins on the plane. The only con for me is the hard wheels that make a lot of noise over grooved surfaces. I hope this means they will hold up for a long time. It's my first choice for a 3-4 day get away.
