Comments about Vibram FiveFingers TrekSport Multisport Shoes - Men's - 2011 Overstock:

You got to love the pain. I'm two weeks in with running in these things and my calf muscles are screaming. It's good though 'cause I know I'm building up strength. I did the recommended prerequisites to strengthen my ankles and calves before running in them. I even started with a short run to work my way in to them. The result however was I needed to ice down my legs and was sore the whole week afterwords. The main issue for me was that I was a heel strike runner and in these things you instantly become a mid foot strike runner. I am suffering more because I am now running with correct form and it is worth the pain curve. The biggest change I noticed was that these things force you to stay light on your feet which translates in to an overall increase in your running speed. Also although the specs say you can run on trails, I would watch out for trials with lose rocks as you will feel them. Overall I think they are great, I'm looking forward to my next run and six months from now to see the results of my change in running form. Thanks for reading.

Definitively the right shoes for running outdoors. Lower back pain - gone.
Just an average barefoot feeling, due to the thicker soles, but very good traction so it's a good starting shoe.
When your legs get used to it, it's time to switch to the regular KSOs.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers TrekSport Multisport Shoes - Men's - 2011 Overstock:

Treksport ABSOLUTELY STOPPED 40 yrs. of foot, leg, & lower back pain the day i put my feet into a pair.I am 59. My toes are Curled under, and heavily calloused from years of improper footwear.I have "A" width feet with a super high arch.I am a laborer by design. I walk 10K to 14k steps daily on a 1/4" round gravel surface. Frequently running, stepping, climbing over rocks of every size & texture.I am lifting & carrying bags from 40 to 88lbs., and lifting rocks to 125lbs. On & off machinery, pallets,& blacktop. I REFUSE to engage in any sporting activity in my spare time. 10-14K STEPS a day at work makes me hate leisure activity. Treksport has given back a range of motion in my knees once lost to posterior cruciate ligament strain. I can once again kneel down without pain,& can squat & almost touch my hind end on the ground. I have a second pair to wear with a suit & tie. Every inch of my body has STOPPED HURTING. Yes, i am 59,but my mind has & always will be 25yrs young. REI employees are Knowledgeable, patient. The 100% warranty is absolute. DO NOT wear Five Fingers OUTSIDE of their intended discipline & NO OTHER shoe can touch their fit, feel, performance. Be EXTREMELY CAREFUL on Metal surfaces. Five Fingers FOREVER !. Going for pair number 3 before the sale ends.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers TrekSport Multisport Shoes - Men's - 2011 Overstock:

These are my 5th pair of 5 fingers. Overall I'm very satisfied with them. There are plenty of reviews on the 5 Fingers line of shoes so instead of repeating the typical pros & cons ad nauseum I'm going to just list my observations concerning the KSO TrekSport:

          - If you are used to the regular KSO's these can run a bit smaller, especially in the big toe. One size larger than a regular KSO was a tad too roomy but worked for me, especially with a thin Injini sock.

          - The tread lugs are worth it over the KSO's for on-the-trail hiking or running on rugged surfaces like rocks.

          - My ONE big issue I found is that of a manufacturing snafu. I was wearing them for a couple miles when one of my two arches started to feel a rubbing discomfort not too much unlike a small pebble in the arch. Upon observation and comparison with the right shoe I found that my left shoe was stitched without overlapping the material on the side. Therefore the exposed stitching was rubbing against the bottom of my arch. They are great minimalist shoe but this is a significant quality control issue for a product like this. REI is very good with customer satisfaction so I'm heading back to see (and hope) they still have some in my size to replace them with. I've taken pictures of both shoes with a reference to the area which needs to be addressed by Vibram quality control.

i'm amazed at how well constructed, durable, and beyond comfortable these shoes are. i will be buying a new pair each time the current ones go out, which i suspect will be a while.

everyone said to wait and slowly break yourself into the shoes since they stress muscles you do not use normally in other "normal" shoes. i was using nike free, and now with these vibrams i really feel free, and i didn't take the advice given to me. i work them at work five days in a row for 10 hour days and i was a little soar in the end...your mileage may vary.

            buy a pair and enjoy!

This is my third pair of vibrams. They're the best yet. My last pairs were the originals and ksos. These are better because the sole is slightly thicker, the materials are higher quality, and the construction seems to be updated and better than previous generations. These seem to get better and better.

I wear these almost daily. They Dont have that "must get these off" feeling when you get home. Most of the walking/running I do is on pavement but we do have a mountain behind us that I've walked the trails a few times and they did great.
