I bought these gloves because they were the warmest at REI despite the fact that they are pricey. I need warm gloves for skiing and winter hiking. They are warm and fit well. They are somewhat stiff. I have Raynaud's Disease and my fingers get very cold when outside. As thick and as warm as they are, my fingers still get old with these gloves when the temps are in the low 20s. So, when the temperatures fall below 20, I must use mittens. That is not an indictment against these gloves. I think most people will find these glove to be warm enough for most outdoor activities.

Comments about Black Diamond Guide Gloves:

I got the large, but feel they need to be about a 1/4 inch longer in the fingers. Unfortunately REI does not have XL and as of this writing only have mediums in stock.
The leather is very nice, double stitched. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they breath despite the leather. After walking around in deep snow, temps in the teens they stayed warm and reasonably dry. Drier then my previous ski gloves that would of been damp with sweat by the time I was done walking the same route in deep snow.
The draw cord at the gauntlet was easy to pull tight and just as easy to loosen.
Pricey for gloves, but then you pay for quality.
