Comments about Hi-Tec Cliff Trail WP Hiking Boots - Women's - 2011 Closeout:
The write up said "steel shank" so I expected these to be okay on the rocks. I could have worn bedroom slippers out there for all the protection the soles of my feet got. I returned them after just one use because they were not as advertised.

Comments about Hi-Tec Cliff Trail WP Hiking Boots - Women's - 2011 Closeout:
The best thing about these boots is the price. I was looking for a last-minute pair of boots for very light (semi-flat, < 5 miles) hiking during a weekend car camping trip with my mother and a family friend after my dog chewed my 10+ year old hikers. We do what I consider "luxury camping," which consists of a lot of heavy gear loaded in cars, a lot of cooking, easy hikes, etc. That is to say that I did not expect these boots to need to perform under rigorous conditions. They didn't make it even one weekend. They were warm and waterproof so far as I could tell (temperature was in the 30s at night). That's where the pros end. There is very little support or cushion considering that they are supposed to be hiking boots, and the sole of one boot began separating from the upper after one day of wear. Not good. So glad I bought them at REI and could return them. Go ahead and spend the money to buy something you'll keep and wear instead of wasting time on these.
