Comments about Brooks L.S.D. Lite Jacket III - Men's:
This jacket is paper thin. It's really meant for running and maybe light hiking. It's not waterproof but it does keep the wind out. It does have a big vent in the back, but can get steamy if you're really exerting yourself. It looks good and for the price it was worth it.

Comments about Brooks L.S.D. Lite Jacket III - Men's:
Really happy with this jacket. I have another heavier running jacket (The Solomon one with the zip off sleeves) that's fantastic, but wanted something a bit more lightweight for when it gets down into the high 40s/50s. This fit the bill!
First, it looks great. Second, it packs really small into its own pocket. The final packed size is about 3/4 the size of my hand. And Brooks though to include a clip so when it's packed up you can clip it to things like your backpack. Really great idea!
Regarding performance, I find it works well in its intended weather category (cold-ish, windy). It really shines. Unfortunately the fabric is not too breathable, but there is a big vent in the back that does the job surprisingly well.
I like that it has dual elastic adjustment points around the waist and an elastic adjustment on the head. I can basically tailor it to fit. Wouldn't have minded a little velco adjustment on the wrist cuffs, but that's no big deal as the elastic cuffs do the job well.
Regarding the hood adjustment, it basically hugs your head when adjusted properly. Whether I'm wearing a ball cap, a beanie, or nothing, the hood stays tight. It's really nice to not have to worry about it coming off at all. Adjust it and forget it.
The front pocket is fine for small things like credit cards and could hold a phone if you wanted. The lack of side pockets is unsurprising in this as it's a very lightweight jacket and side zippered pockets would really add a substantial percentage to the weight. I'm glad they're not there, especially because I really just grab a credit card and some cash on my runs, so no need for excess storage space personally.
The hood DOES catch the wind though, when you're not wearing it. A gust front he front ensures the hood balloons up like a parachute and a gust from the rear ensures that the hood annoyingly flaps in your face. Unlike side pockets, some sort of hood stay would have been worth the extra weight. However, rather than letting the hood fall behind you, you can fold it inward. As long as your jacket is zipped up, folding the hood so it sits between the jacket and your back will keep it in place and the way the collar looks, you would almost mistake this for a hood-less jacket. That's a good enough solution for me for now.
Regardless, this is the best lightweight windbreaker I've ever owned.

Comments about Brooks L.S.D. Lite Jacket III - Men's:
I run 25 miles a week, mostly at night; wind or rain. Absolutely wind proof and although not advertised as waterproof, it's very good in the rain. Technically, the seams aren't sealed, but after 8 miles I was still dry. Super lightweight and comfortable-I love this jacket! Another big plus for me is that it's not a noisy fabric. Only two minor negatives: (1) no hood pocket (it balloons in the wind; (2) need to wear long sleeves underneath because moisture builds up in the sleeves and can be uncomfortable (the sleeves can stick to your arms).

Comments about Brooks L.S.D. Lite Jacket III - Men's:
I use the jacket for runs when the weather dips down into the 40's-70's. I also use the jacket as a very light shell for UL backpacking.
Polyester is not the most breathable fabric, but it has a vent on the back which is a good design. The jacket packs into it's own pocket and will fit into your pants pocket, glovebox, backpack, ect. It will pack to the size of your palm. I am very pleased with the hood as it is large(enough to fit my big head and big dreadlocks).
REI did not carry the black jacket in store when I visited, so I chose the blue which seems less flashy than the orange/red. Both catch the eye.
Overall a great jacket in classic Jardine style design.
