    Comments about Brunton O.S.S. 60M Compass:

    I bought this compass to use as a backup compass for backcountry camping, as well as volunteer search and rescue activities. I am really unhappy with it and hate it very much, and am probably going to try to bring it back for store credit.

    The compass has one good feature: It's an accurate compass with a needle that settles quickly and accurately.

    My major issue is the declination adjustment system, which is tool-free but slips out of place really easily, making it impossible for me to consistently take an accurate bearing.

    Minor issues include the fact that the hinge on the mirror continually squeaks like a dying mouse when I open or close the compass, the compass's overall flimsy feeling like it will break in my pack, and the fact that Brunton is too cheap to include a lanyard (Suunto compasses in this price range typically include one).
