Rated5out of5byMom2EGJ2007fromNO FUR HOOD - PURPLE POWER!!!Bought this jacket for a Mom & ME Girl Scout overnight camp in January. We live in the south so I do not usually buyer think about getting a jacket we DO NOT usually have extreme weather conditions BUT NOT THIS YEAR (2014). The weather was forecasted to be in the high 10's to the high 40's one forecast had snow then rain. I NEEDED something for the crazy weather. This 3 in 1 was perfect!!! Inside fleece jacket is really warm and the outside jacket is wind and water proof WITH THE DRAWSTRING AT THE BOTTOM!!! WOW
My daughter is slim and i wanted to keep the wind out.
Once home the 2014 SNOW STORM hit very thankful for this FABULOUS system.
I would LOVE to see a waist drawstring (on the fleece) or at least two side drawstrings for the slim kids, to keep the wind form coming up the bottom of the jacket.

Rated4out of5byIrongutfromKeepin' he Kiddos Warm and DryBought this one for my daughter. The three-in-one capability is super useful for wet Northwest weather. The shell sheds water well. The fleece insert looks super sharp by itself and is quick to remove.
The one downside is that the coat is too bulky for outdoor athletic endeavors when the three pieces are together. So it's best use is getting to and from school with a little recess mixed in.

Rated4out of5bymdgfromA Great BuyI purchased this jacket for my 8 year old daughter along with the matching Timber Mountain Snow Pants. The jacket was put to the test while snow tubing on Chrismas Eve and Ice skating and sleding this past weekend. She wasnt crazy about the fake fur but not to worry it easily zips off. She stayed warm and dry even after falling out of her sled a few times in the 23 degree temps along with gusty winds. When the temp does warm up the fleece lining is easily zipped out from the outter shell. Cant really say anything bad about it. The price was good buy and I think she will be able to get some good use out of it the rest of this winter and beyond.

Rated5out of5byWAmomfromGREAT COATBought this coat for my six year old, love it. It is another one that is going to last through my girls. Funny person who said they didn't like it because of the fur. The fur zips off, so take it off if you don't like it! The inner fleece is very cute, and the coat itself is very warm. Awesome buy, especially since it was practically half off!

Rated5out of5byLiveOutsidefromExcellent value for a well made coatI bought this for my youngest daughter (Age 7)because it was a great looking coat and appeared to be made with quality. This is another fine REI product but this time made for kids. My daughter loves the coat and loves the fact that it's a three in one design. Simple snap enclosures at each sleeve and behind the collar connect the polar fleece to the shell. She has no problem wearing it out with a t-shirt underneath easily at 40 degrees (and layered if it's colder). The waterproofing seems to be nice and tight. The jacket has some nice features that make it a great all-around coat. She will be using it for snowboarding, playing in the snow, hiking, backpacking and around the town. I liked the coat enough to buy one for my other daughter as well.
The comments for one star by the other reviewer seems unwarranted simply because it has faux fur and captures clumped snow. I guess if you are out in severe snow and wind conditions that might be the case but we have had any issues.

Rated1out of5byTeamAKfromWAS a Great jacket , untill this year...I have bought my kids the timber mountain jacket for the past four years. I bought the Jackets because we live in ALASKA. They use great water shedding materials, and are warm. However, I will NOT be purchasing them this year. For some reason, REI decided to change the hood and add fake fur. In snow, fake fur accumulates snow clumps and wetness. That's no fun on the sledding hill! I liked that the previous model of the jacket was easy to clean; just toss in the washer with a bit of tech wash. The fake fur on this year's model makes the jacket difficult to wash, and if washed incorrectly, ruins the fake fur making it look worse than it already does, and attract even more snow. Overall, this was poor product idea. Take the fur off next year's mode!
