            This lock will work if your bike is the cheapest on the rack...put your twenty dollars towards a u-lock or something that'll require effort to cut through. Look into a lock that has quite a few mm of metal in the bar or links.

              I've had my lock for a unmber of years now and it has done its work while I duck into a convienience store. I have also used this cable lock when transporting my bikes on a trunk mount rack for extra security while I'm grabbing some road food. The cable is too short to secure two bikes to my roof rack bike mount, but it is long enough to lock up two bikes to a lamp post or telephone pole while grabbing lunch in a restaurant. Would I use this lock for securing my bikes in one spot for weeks at a time? Probably not. Would I use this to secure my bike while at work. You bet!

                I have owned this lock for a number of years now and it does exactly what it is designed for: theft deterent for short term usage. The only negative I have is sometimes the cable is too short. In addition to locking the bike up while I jump into a convienience store, I've used it to secure my bikes to a trunk mount bike rack while traveling. Keeps everything secure if I go in for road food. It is too short to work effectively with my car top carrier. Would I leave my bike for a week secured with just this lock? Probably not. Is it great for city / commuting use? You bet! Overall, it is a good balance in price versus protection.

                  i've had three beach cruisers stolen. two with this lock. they can be cut with hand held wire cutters. don't bother. get a solid U lock or a thick chain.
