It is nice to see REI carrying the Current Design kayaks. I already own a Solstice GTS and absolutely love this kayak for everything except its maneuverability. This kayak is built to track an almost perfect staight line by anybody, in fact I have only used the rudder to help with maneuvering and open water crossings with strong currents or winds. The cockpit is very easy to get in and out of, molded thight braces and seat are a perfect fit for me and it is the most comfortable cockpit I have paddled in for extended periods of time. This kayak is suprisingly stiff and light for its size and the recessed hatches are water tight and aesthetically pleasing. The simplicity and peformance of the Solstice GTS make for an excellent value in a kayak as long as you understand it is not a high maneuverability kayak. To bad REI could not choose a more gender neutral color or at least an optional color.
