Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet 8 Kayak:
Only used on lake, so don't know how it would work on rapids or ocean. My wife is very pleased with the Comet 8

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet 8 Kayak:
Bought two of these for me and my wife to start kayaking in our local lakes and rivers. Have been out twice and have learned new things both times. Only had a sit on tandem and two 10ft rentals to compare to. Did notice that they were more responsive than the rentals, but since we learn by doing, we write it off to a learning curve and are scheduled to take REI's kayak/canoe class next month. The price for these two kayaks, paddles and PFD's fit our budget and will do for now until we become Olympic class paddlers..... LOL that will never happen! We bought to enjoy the outdoors and quiet times out on the water together.

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet 8 Kayak:
I bought this kayak for recreational use, and to provide a fun way to get a good workout. Knowing that was my reason for the purchase, I knew this would not be a very fast kayak. But for the price and for what you get it is hard to beat! I also drive a compact car, so this kayak was perfect because I do not need any help when I transport the boat to and from my car. (also putting it on top and strapping it down is easy) The only time I would not recommend this kayak is if you are looking to race anyone or paddle for long distances. It is very stable, lightweight, and comfortable.

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet 8 Kayak:
I am a 6 foot 230 pound man. I wanted this kayak because I could lock it in the camper shell of my truck and take it out anytime. I was initialy concerned about the 260 pound weight limit that is listed in the specs. This boat mocves fast even with me inside of it. It is comfortable even for my size and if you are reconsidering the kayak because of the weight and length I say pick one up ad try it out. Before I got this I picked up an Ascend D10 from [@]. It had a higher weight rating and was obviously longer. Between the two of them I feeel that the Comet is the superior. Now I just need to get out and try it on the river :)

Overall my wife and I are very pleased with these kayaks. We have rented kayaks many times and finally decided to purchase a pair for ourselves. I am happy with the value for the price. I am glad we were able to get a great set without breaking the bank.
It was a plus that these shipped to the local store free of charge where I picked them up.

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet 8 Kayak:
I generally don't bother writing reviews, but I felt the the single review on the site for this little boat was so unfair that I had no choice but to weigh in.I bought an earlier version of this boat and have been using it happily for the past two years. First things first. The boat isn't perfect, but come on. It's on sale for [$]!!! For that price, I can assure you that you won't find a better value. It fits INSIDE my hatchback (Scion tC) with the hatch CLOSED! It is light(ish) and will fit nearly anywhere on and off the water. I've kept mine outdoors leaning against a tree at work for the past two years and it shows no signs of aging or damage. I just never have to worry about this boat. Even if it walks off - I've had two greats years of nearly daily use in the summers. All for less than $300. To address the flaws pointed out by the other reviewer:1. Yep. The straps which hold the seat back in place came loose. This really is a design flaw. The strap stretches and it pops off of the screw. It took me 10 minutes and a trip to home depot for some brass rivets to reinforce the strap. After that - no more problem. Total cost to repair - maybe $10.2. Scrapes getting in and out. Yep. You do have to be a little more careful than on an expensive kayak. The edge of the cockpit is a bit sharp. Nothing that a bit of duct tape didn't take care of. In fact, from the picture, it looks like this has already been addressed by by the company in the new model. I see some covering over the cockpit edge to avoid the scrapes. My boat doesn't have that. Other than the sharp edge, I found it about average as far as ease of entry and exit.3. Stability. I just don't get that one at all. This is probably the most stable kayak that I have ever paddled. To call this boat unstable (unless the seat design has changed since my version) boggles the mind. I can't help but wonder how many boats the other reviewer has actually tried.4. The paddle strap. Yep. Another case of a corner cut. The edge popped off of mine pretty quickly too. It was a cool feature while it lasted, though, but it could be easily fixed if I had the motivation to do so.5. Tracking. The unique design of this boat means that it has to be moving at a steady pace in order to track straight. For the first few strokes, the boat is all over the place, but after you are up to speed (even a slow but steady pace will do) it tracks as well as any other compact kayak (10' or less) that I have paddled. If you find that you can't make this boat go straight, you are probably not paddling with a consistent stroke.Bottom line: This is a sub $300 boat!!!! Don't expect it to perform or have the refinements of a $1200 kayak. But for the price, it is an amazing value and great fun. I'm an experienced paddler, and I do love to be out on the bay in a nice, skinny, 16 footer. But I keep coming back to this boat whenever I'm on flat water. It turns on a dime, fits places my other kayaks never could, and has seen more use than all of my other boats combined. Would I recommend it to a friend? Without question. In fact, for the current sale price, I think I'm going to pick up another one for myself!

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet 8 Kayak:
Got this for my 9 y.o. son. He's never paddled before. Got right in, launched him from shore, and off he went. This boat tracked well, turned on a dime, and for him was FAST! After finally cajoling him to get in, so I could try, I was pleasantly surprised how fast and easy this boat handles. I'm about 6', 180 lbs and got in, no problem, and off I went. The adjustable foot pads help, just reach in and and click them in position. Once you get truckin' in this little guy, it really tracks well, and by its size encourages a higher angle paddling. Had my son yelling at me to get back in! This yak has it all, for beginners to advanced. And at 8' long, we just throw in the back of the van, and off we go.

Comments about Emotion Kayaks Comet 8 Kayak:
Lets get started. Its inferior design makes it slow on the water due to its odd u shaped hull. the aft is chopped off giving you no tracking whatsoever. The craftsmanship is poor the plastic cockpit will actually scratch you. The seat is slick and causes you to slide down into the nose. My wife broke the seats nylon seatback cord and had to tie it together as well as the shock cord holder and paddle restraint on the first day. The seat is raised off the bottom of the kayak giving you a high center of gravity that causes more stability issues than most kayaks. (Its significantly more prone to roll over than other kayaks.) I would like to say that I actually like the rear mounted drain plug and it does have a lot of room in the back for cargo.
