Comments about OnGuard Bulldog DT U-Lock with 4' Cable:

Read the fine print if you are looking to purchase a lock with insurance. While the security rating is decent, we really wanted to take advantage of the insurance program. We later learned that you have to register within 15 days, pay extra and it is only valid under very specific circumstances. Don't pay extra for insurance offers!!!!

Comments about OnGuard Bulldog DT U-Lock with 4' Cable:

I am brand new to cycling, and this was the lock recommended by REI. I like that it has a cable to lock my back wheel, and the u lock seems secure. Even better, the main lock comes with a mini light for those days when I'm up before dawn and home late.

Downsides are that the lock is awkward to put on and off, is quite heavy and the keyhole is in an awkward place (right in the center of the main bar). I suppose the keyhole location also makes it harder to pick the lock?

This may not be unique to this u-lock, but the mounting bracket was nearly impossible to put on. Once I finally mounted it (be careful, as the nuts will fall out of the bracket quite easily when you are installing it), it has taken me FOREVER to get the lock to actually fit into the bracket. Once I get it in the bracket, it holds, but it is beyond frustrating to try get it to stay in the bracket.

I've only used it for a few days, and so far, my bike is safe. Maybe I'll get better at using it with time.
