Comments about OnGuard Bulldog Mini U-Lock:

I wanted a mini U lock for my road bike on days where I would take my bike on adventures. Stopped by a cafe, grabbed the lock, stuck in the key. Frozen. After much finagling, and throwing the lock at a wall, I was finally able to get it open. Used it hesitantly to lock up the bike after testing that it would actually let me have my bike back, and continued as usual.

This really didn't surprise me though. The lock has two mechanisms that grab onto the U bar, one for each side. This is unlike some locks that only secure onto one side and hold the other in some solid fashion. This means that even when the lock is working normally, you need to insert that U bar straight into the two ports, making sure the lock itself is perpendicular. Then after a little more jiggling around, you can turn the key to lock it down.

Overall the mechanism is not very smooth, and has more parts that are possibly prone to failure. I don't quite doubt it's security yet, but I am doubting that I will be able to easily lock up my bike. Even worse, I don't want to come back to my bike and have to bang it around to get it back.
