Considering the fact that it's an LED lit Lantern it has a pretty good light output. The flashlight that comes with it and charges in it is awesome. The only bad thing about the flashlight is that when it's not in the lantern charging and the lantern is on bugs will go inside the lantern. Not a huge deal but it happens.

This thing has the cleanest light I have seen from an led lantern. It is a soft light but bright enough area light at all levels without being glaring as with most led lanterns. After purchasing I did confirm that the glow portion of the lantern comes from the flashlight when installed in the lantern. When the flashlight is released for separate use the lantern lights automatically so your not left in the dark if glow was all that was on(nice feature). The lantern is plenty bright on either of the remaining two settings with the flashlight removed. I also like the handy flashlight to check progress of our steaks when flame broiling on an open fire pit...
