    First, I don't know much about trail shoes because I'm a road runner. But I needed to get trail shoes for a half trail that I was doing. I read a lot of reviews on other sites since rei didn't have one. Anyway, these shoes are lightweight, which surprised me. I always thought trail shoes were heavy. I'm used to Vibrams and Nike free, so the weight of these shoes were great, not having to adjust too much. The traction is GREAT! The half that I just ran this weekend was definitely wet and muddy, but I never slipped around. I usually wear a 7, but from other reviews on other sites, I ordered a 6.5. It's a great fit, just enough room. I also love the fact that there's so much room for your toes to wiggle, but the rest of the shoe fit snugly, like a glove. My socks and shoes were soaked from stepping into all the mud puddles, the water seemed to exit the shoe well...but of course with rain and a muddy trail that was hard keeping more water from entering. So that made my feet sore on the bottom after being in the soaked sock for so long, but no blisters. Overall, very happy with these shoes. I've never heard of Scarpa, but would definitely buy again when it's time to retire these.
