The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
I own an Ecrin Roc and a BD half dome, and they are both hot and uncomfortable on warm sunny days. Seeking a more comfortable helmet, I recently purchased an Elios. I just used it climbing at Red Rocks in Nevada on 90 deg F days, and it was very cool and comfortable. I was really pleasantly surprised!

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
Picked this up with my dividend and can't complain so far. It's comfortable and adjustable enough to fit all my climbing needs. I can't comment on how durable it is, as I have only had it for about a month.
Obviously there are other helmets out there that are either lighter or cheaper. For my money, though, this is a really good middle ground. This one is for those that want a comfortable helmet that don't want to shell out more than $100.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
Works fine, easy adjustable.
Maybe, it's not intended use but I tried to wear it on a baseball cap on a very sunny day.
Lower adjustable strap was a littttle to small to close properly.
Also, even after some use it's hard to find/use opening/closing clip.
I'm going to use the helmet for light mountaineering outings like mt. Baker or mt. Rainier.
The above inconveniences might not be an issue for rock climbing only.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
The helmet straps have a nice design and expand and store nicely. This was a size large helmet, but is still tighter that I would like it. Another half-size would make it perfect.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
I've used this helmet for just one season, including a 2 week mountaineering trip, rock and ice climbing, and caving. I purchased a Size 2, and have a fairly large head, but not exceptionally.
This helmet is very comfortable, moreso than the Petzl Ecrin Roc or BD Half Dome. The chinstrap clip can be clipped from a variety of angles, which is helpful if you have thick gloves on. The adjusment system for head circumference is easy, comfortable, and secure. And the vents are more than just a gimmick. They don't drastically change the insulation, but they are effective. I have to say, this might be the best helmet on the market if you don't want super durability (Ecrin Roc) or super lightweight (BD and Petzl have nice light helmets).
Now for the cons: The chinstrap is plenty long, but the webbing that goes under your ears is short, and just barely fits on me. Cleaning cave mud (or other sorts of mud I imagine) out of the sytrofoam insert is slightly more difficult than on a helmet with webbing suspension (like the Ecrin Roc) That's it for the cons!
I've only had it one season, so we'll see how it holds up in the long run, but I expect to be wearing this helmet into the next decade at least.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
This is my first climbing helmet, and to be honest ive never been much of a helmet person. Whether it be snowboarding, skateboarding, biking, motorcycles, ect, I have never found a helmet that I think is comfortable and I enjoy wearing, until now. I took this baby out last weekend at the Gunks and it was like it wasnt even on my head. I rarely noticed it, and it was so comfortable I found my self just leaving it on, where as most of the other guys would take theirs off when resting. Its is very light weight and even has vent holes that open/close for better temperature control. I also like that it has a spot to mount a visor as well as a head lamp. I had no problem with sweat like another reviewer mentioned, and didn't get any in my eyes. This seems to be a well made light weight comfortable helmet from great company, what more could you want?

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
No complaints about comfort in cold weather. It adjusts easily and fits securely.
The headlamp clips are too tight to easily use in the field and the chin strap tends to go slip and loosen.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
This helmet rocks! I climb in crete a very warm island in greece. Seems the design of the helmet does not allow sweat to pour down at all. The sweat stays in the helmet in the padding. No problems with the helmet at all. Lighweight, adjusts to the smallest of heads as well as big heads. Petzl did a great job and for the price a great buy for the smart climber.

Comments about Petzl Elios Climbing Helmet:
The helmet itself is great. The new forehead padding on the otherhand is unacceptable. The old Elios helmets had closed cell foam wrapped on the front bracket that was very comfortable and was waterproof. The new helmets have a velcro sction with a cheap foam pad stuck to it. When wearing the helmet, the pad shifts causing the bracket to dig into your head. I have chaffing from the plasic rubbing on my forehead. Not to mention since it is no longer closed cell, it holds water (and sweat) and at the slightest bit of pressure, you get a stream of liquid running into your eyes. Absolutely HORRIBLE. Come on Petzl.
