The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about CamelBak Vantage FT 35 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
First let me address previous comments about this pack. The two biggest complaints were that it was hard to fill inside the pack and there was no hook/loop to support the bladder. First no bag CamelBak has ever made was intended to have the user fill the bladder while its still inside the pack. This is user error and its no wonder it's hard and makes a mess. Second, there is a loop inside this pack. Halfway down in the bladder pocket there is a rigid loop that you slide the hard plastic handle on the bladder inside of. This supports the bladder flawlessly. CamelBak has been using this method for most of their newer lineup of packs for several year now. There is no reason to jury rig any sort of loop. That being said, once you remove operator error from the equation this bag is great. The back padding is extremely comfortable and the foam does a great job keeping your back less moist. The shoulder straps and waist belt equalizes the load when adjusted correctly. I just did a South-North-South rim hike in the Grand Canyon with just this pack. 50 miles in 15 hrs and I have not one complaint. It had more than enough room and water capacity. Everything was readily accessable, and after laying it down several times during rest stops and using it as a bench to change socks. I hosed it down and it looks like new. It shows no sighs of wear. I currently own between 5-7 different bags of assorted sizes, for different activities. this one just elevated into my top 2 category. No disappointments!!

Comments about CamelBak Vantage FT 35 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I bought this to replace my old pack (also worn out due to daily abuse). I have done segments of the North Coast Trail in Michigan and Pacific Crest here in CA. I mostly hike the South-East Sierras, long day hikes. I chose this Camelbak with the intention of doing some overnight hikes as well. I currently own 4 hydration packs and this is my new favorite.
The pack and hydration bladder have been excellent. Everything I wanted in a pack. The NVIS back panel is very comfortable and does keep my back rather dry. Normally my back got drenched with my old pack. This pack holds all my essentials, stove, food, clothes, plus some bulky camera gear and room to spare. If you have a compact sleeping bag and shelter this bag can easily do an overnight or a weekend trip.
Other reviews have stated problems with the bladder system. I have had none. I agree it can be a pain to refill the bladder, but this is true of any hydration pack. I always remove the bladder to fill it. Filling any bladder inside the pack is asking for a wet mess, you also can't get a bladder completely full inside the pack. If you can't get a bladder back into a loaded pack, pull your jacket or something out first. It's a small price to pay for the convenience of drinking out of a tube that sits in front of your mouth.
I only had one concern with this pack: There was no loop in the top of the hydration pocket to hang the bladder from (like there was in my previous camelbak). Without this hang loop, the bladder can fall all the way to the bottom of the pack. This would be fine if the tube was about 2-3 inches longer. There is a strap near the hydration tube slot. I tied a piece of cord into a loop around it, and hung the bladder from that. Not a big deal, but worth noting. If you chose to hang the bladder up high as I have, The zipper for the hydration pocket should be held together when zipping it over a full bladder; it is a tight zip - and probably why they intended to sit the bag at the bottom of the compartment.
The pack feels durable, and does what I want. My girlfriend liked it a lot also, so I will be buying the Vista FT (women's version) for her.
Cheers

Comments about CamelBak Vantage FT 35 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I've used this in long distance wilderness hikes, scrambling up mtn peaks, and on days when the weather changed from iffy to great, allowing enough room to stuff all my extra layers, food, survival gear, and plenty of water. The side access at the bottom of the pack makes it very simple to retreive the fast needed items such as a first aid kit. Plenty of tethering points and loops for my ice axe, crampons and hiking poles. I haven't found anything that I don't like about it yet. Even the color works well for survival reasons.

Comments about CamelBak Vantage FT 35 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
Camel Bak puts out good stuff. However I can see why they discontinued this model. It was poorly designed. The bladder will leak just as the previous post mentioned. Then when I had to replace the bladder, when the pack was filled with my equipment, you cannot remove it! If your hands are petite enough and you do manage to remove it, you fill it, and then can't get it back in the pack. I had rig up a system, and carry an external reservoir. It was a mess, but I managed for one trip. Worst $100+ bucks I ever spent. Do Not Buy!

Comments about CamelBak Vantage FT 35 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
CamelBak said, "With its separate zippered opening, the reservoir can be easily refilled without removing it from the pack...". Easily filled? Not true! In fact, it's nearly impossible to fill/refill, even with the wide mouth, unless you stick your fingers inside the bladder to hold it open! The zippered opening is too short, making it very difficult enough to pour in water. It would be great if you could slide the bladder out of the pack to fill it, but you can't, because it is attached to the inside of the pack by a 1" string (you can't cut the string because it is there to hold the bladder in place). So, you are forced to leave the bladder inside it's compartment and because the zippered opening is so small, you have just a narrow window to try to pour the water through. The wide mouth is a Godsend, but still a lot of water went into the backpack, which I didn't know at the time.
The first time I used the pack, I also put 4 ea. of their "Elixir" tablets (provides electrolytes, vitamins and minerals) into the bladder after I filled it. I then walked into my living room to turn off the T.V., still holding the pack in my right hand, when I felt something wet on my bare feet. I looked down to see a puddle of water on the carpet. At first, I thought the bladder was leaking or that I didn't secure the cap properly. After holding it over the kitchen sink for a few minutes to drain, trying to figure out where the water was coming from, I realized that it must have happened when I was trying to fill it. It wasn't leaking, but a lot of water just didn't make it into the bladder when I was filling it, because of the small window.
This could have been the perfect day pack--holds lots of water, very light weight, extremely comfortable and sturdily made. CamelBak needs to make the bladder compartment zipper go all the way around the pack, just like the main compartment zipper does. This way you can easily fill the bladder without making a mess or having to stick your fingers inside the bladder to hold it open.
I returned it. I hope that CamelBak will read this review. If they just lengthen the zipper as per my suggestion, it will be the perfect pack!
