The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Trail running. They offer great protection of the soft middle of the foot. They have great traction and fasten tightly.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Spyridon LS Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I've only recently become interested in running, so these were my first pair of trail running shoes. After researching, I decided I wanted that "barefoot" running would be best for my body mechanics. I'm definitely pleased with these shoes and how they've performed so far. The only warning I would give everyone is to listen to the warnings about acclimating to these types of shoes. It was definitely an adjustment for my muscles, but I adjusted quickly and am very pleased with the results.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Spyridon LS Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I am in the Army and run various distances on differing terrain. While these are not allowed in Army formations I wear the FiveFingers when I run on my own. I've owned these shoes for about four months now so I feel I have a pretty good handle on them.
I primarily wear the FiveFinger shoes for running on roads and well defined trails with rocks no bigger than 4 inches. I do not wear these shoes in a true cross country fashion when I am breaking brush as the uppers are too low and allow detritus and insects to get into the shoe requiring constant stops to clear out the shoe. If you enjoy wearing FiveFinger shoes for running or similar styles then these shoes will be your go to trail running shoes. The other FiveFinger running shoes I've owned can be a little tough on the feet during trail running because the soles aren't quite as stiff as these shoes. With the Spyridon shoes you can still feel the rocks, but it will not cause you to wince in pain or have bruised feet after the run.
I've also worn and ran in these shoes in weather that is just below freezing, but greater than 20 degrees Fahrenheit. You can still run and walk at these temps as if you were wearing a set of tennis shoes with socks, just don't stop and don't run in snow that's much higher than 1/4 inch.
The only cons I have are that the shoes remain stiff and they can get smelly, like all FiveFinger style shoes. Unlike other FiveFinger shoes I've owned that seem to become easier to slip into over time these shoes are still quite stiff, probably because of their stiff lowers. To some this may be a good thing, but I have to work every time I put these shoes on. My second con is that these shoes can get smelly if you don't wash them about once a week. I do not wear socks with these shoes so the dirt, oil, and sloughed off flesh from my feet make a great diet for bacteria. I powder my feet and the shoes before wearing them and hand wash the shoes once a week. I then stuff them with newspaper to speed the drying process.
Overall, very good shoes with a few minor drawbacks. I would purchase these shoes again.

I really like these shoes for short runs and when traveling. While they' would be great for running on sand, if some sand gets inside then blisters are a given; so be very careful

I have a couple of FiveFingers pairs. These are narrower than the TrekSports and makes it hard to find the right size. But these definitely are better suited for trail running, especially muddy trail running.

My husband and I each purchased a pair and I doubt either of us will ever go back to a traditional athletic shoe.
These shoes are comfortable, flexible and provide excellent traction and support.... regardless of snarky comments equating this shoe with Crocs.

I picked these up while out in phoenix Az and was about to go hiking. I've been wanting to buy a 2nd pair of vibram five fingers (first pair are Bikila LS). They had great grip on the echo canyon trial that we hiked up. I also use them while playing Disc Golf. They are a lot tighter than my Bikila LS but once they are on for a little while they feel great.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Spyridon LS Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
The Spyridon would be a top choice for me in the VFF line if not for one major problem: the insole rapidly delaminates.
The shoe is otherwise phenomenal: it offers the best foot protection of any of the VFF line, has fantastic traction, is light weight, quite tough, and I actually found it more comfortable than the Bikila, Komodosport, or Treksport. I even found them not uncomfortable for road and track-running, although the added ruggedness of the shoes make them overkill for those endeavors.
Unfortunately, the rapid delamination of the insole leaves me wanting and begs the question of why Vibram would shift from their typical, tried and true style of insole to something less durable. Mind you, I am not the only one to have this problem:

A real shame given the shoe's potential.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Spyridon LS Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
For the most part I wear these casually, but they are my main running and walking shoe. I love how unbelievably comfortable these are. These are my first pair of Vibram Five Fingers, I can tell you that these will not be the last pair. They seem fairly rugged but I have not done extensive trail running, though I intend to. I highly recomend these to anyone curious in Five Fingers or those looking for a good trail shoe.
