Lighter than its predecessor, this 3-season Therm-a-Rest ProLite sleeping pad is one of the lightest, most compact, self-inflating mattress in the Therm-a-Rest Fast & Light line.

Had high hopes... didn't self inflate. As a matter of fact, when manually inflated, it pushed the air back out! I'm guessing the memory foam memorized 'flat' from being stored so long. I left it out and unfolded at home for literally 7 days... nothing.

I'm that guy who has always refused to invest in a nice sleeping pad. I've never thought that the added comfort was worth the money, space, and weight. In the past, I've only packed in one of the cheap blue foam mats if I knew temperatures were going to drop pretty low.
Well, my last trip was going to be pretty chilly and I found a good deal on the Pro-lite small. It packs down tiny and added way more comfort than I was expecting. I found a way to strap it to the outside of my pack so it took up no extra room. I've been converted.

Bought this pad for backpacking, and I use it all the time now. If you let it sit for 5 min after unrolling it inflates in 1 breathe. Lightweight and packs small.

Went on a backpacking trip to high sierra's and got down to 28 degrees. The ProLite pad kept the cold of the ground off me and was very comfortable.

I got one of these and got my wife a women's version--problem is she won't use hers. She keeps using this one, which is bigger, just as light, and packs down very nicely. Hint: fold like an accordion and push air out before rolling up for best results. We travel internationally and she can't stand hard beds. Now if I could just get her to go backpacking...

I found this pad to be not as comfortable as I would have liked. I am probably asking too much for a pad that is light, compact, self inflating, and very comfortable. I may have to some huffing if I want to sleep well in the wilderness. Good pad if you don't need much cushion. It does level out the ground a bit and was better than nothing.

I used this product backpacking in Philmont (scout ranch in New Mexico) as well as some other trips in Georgia and Iowa. This pad rolls up very compactly, and inflates very easily. I would not, however recommend it for use during winter, or a cold spring/fall day. Like many other air pads, it stays cold. Overall, the pad is very light and small to pack.
I have had the pad for about 7-8 years, and I think it finally has a small pin hole in it, but nothing that a repair kit can't patch : )

The Prolite is almost exactly what every other mattress tries to be.
The neoair revolution (also inflatables from Big agnes, Exped, Nemo, Etc) has given us a bunch of mattresses that are less durable, more annoying to inflate, MARGINALLY lighter, and not necessarily warmer than this pad. I've used it by itself in March just off of Mt. Washington, NH, and it was fine, despite having an r-value of 2. If it's cold, pair it with a short z-lite, and you're golden. It weights little more than the really expensive, fragile inflatables, too.
Also: tough as nails.

Bought this and quickly found It was not enough on it's own. Now I use it in my sleeping bag when sleeping in my hammock or on my Z rest pad in a tent. I really think it on the Z rest is a great combination and if it ever goes flat I will still have something there. I find it still has not leaked after 5 years of use as a Boy Scout leader.
