Comments about Mammut Trea Guide 40 + 7 Pack - Women's:
I bought this because I was doing a lot of traveling and wanted an option that was big enough to hold a week or two worth of clothing and supplies while offering the possibility to expand (should I buy things while on trips) while still being small enough to carry-on planes and comfortable enough to walk around with a full pack allowing me to be hands free. Oh, and being a woman, I also wanted something that would suit my naturally, smaller, narrower frame with padded shoulder straps that wouldn't irritate my skin if I went sleeveless. AND I wanted something that offered both top and side panel loading. This seemed to fit the bill. Considering the full 47 L capacity, this was one of the lighter options, which was important and the removable waist strap also allowed it to be even lighter and more streamlined when not carrying exceptionally heavy loads (under 20 lbs). For the most part, I like the design. The top has an additional external pocket for easy access as well as another inside and the front has a second external pocket large enough for documents or shoes that you might not want to mix with your clean clothes. The color is also really attractive, while not being girly or drawing too much attention. All of the zippers, straps, hooks and whatnot work really well and seem very durable. You can also cinch down the pack in multiple areas for times when you have less and want to eliminate unnecessary bulk. I've carried this on planes with the pack fully extended without any problems from airlines or overhead bins. My only gripe might be that I wish it had an external water bottle pocket (tho it does have an internal pocket for a water pak) and maybe a larger top to close over the body (sometimes when it's not extended and you don't have anything in the top external pocket the way it fits when closed to the main body section is a bit awkward, everything is secure, it's just an unusual hiccup). Also the element/rain guard over the front external pocket's zipper sometimes impedes it's ability to zip shut smoothly. Otherwise, it's a great pack and I plan to keep it.
