bought a pair last year and after a year of using, they are still good.

the ankle length is good for trendy booties, urban hiking shoes, and trail running shoes.

wash them inside out and line dry. no shrinkage or pilling. chestnut color is good to hide dirt.

just bought the oatmeal color.

I purchased these socks last year to wear during a trip that was expected to be warm with lots of walking. I had two pair for the week; at the end of the day I would sink wash the ones I had worn in a special wool blend detergent and hang them to dry on the towel rack. After returning from the trip, I threw them into my regular wear drawer and (on average) wear a pair once a week. Since being at home, I throw them into the regular laundry (using a "free" detergent without brighteners or scent additives) and then into the dryer.

I have experienced absolutely no shrinkage, wear, or problems. The material hasn't pulled/pilled or shed. They look like new. I had doubted the wisdom of wool socks in summer, but they were great at keeping my feet dry. They don't retain any odor. The fit is tight, but not uncomfortable - this just doesn't give as much as a cotton sock. These socks are really only good for daily use, though, because they are a minicrew. Too short for any kind of boot but the right length for my athletic shoes.
