Comments about Salomon XR Mission Trail-Running Shoes - Women's:
I was in need of a new pair of trail runners, so after reading comments here and on another review website, I went with these. Since I am new to this brand, it's always hard to know what size to buy without trying them on. I am a size 9.5 in Mizuno and Nike brand running shoes. I ordered these also in a 9.5 (although my foot actually measures between 8 & 8.5). I think this is the correct size, although in store I would have liked to also try a 9. They are roomy in the toe box, as mentioned by others, but I have long toes and appreciate this space. The arch support is high, and the first wears they gave me a blister on my right arch, just as Asics shoes do for me (I have a medium arch). Thus, I think the arch fit is similar to Asics. I also got a bloody Achilles' tendon after the first wear, but not since (my socks are cut very low).
On road runs, these don't feel very smooth (although the clock says they didn't slow me down!), so I won't be wearing them for that purpose. I haven't yet taken them out for an extended run on the trails, but they are great for day hiking.
All that being said, and after wearing them a few times, they are very comfortable. I saw someone else had purchased them for running errands, and they would be very comfy for that, for walking, or on vacations with lots of sight-seeing. Also, I have had several people comment on them, which startled me. People never comment on my running or hiking shoes. These shoes are rather large-looking on the foot, so perhaps that is why: they attract attention (but I think in a favorable way).

These were my mainstays on vacation. I wore them hiking trails and walking for miles through the city. They are incredibly comfortable. They did not disappoint

I love this shoe because it fits my hard-to-fit foot. It is wide at the ball of the foot, snug in the heel. Fits like a great ski boot. Excellent arch support. A very knowledgeable salesman at REI recommended them for the fit. I am using them to get in shape for a summer hiking trip in Bhutan. So happy!

Easy to remove at airport security lines! The lace to the first pair I bought broke on the second wearing, leaving me limping, but the replacement shoes are super.

Comments about Salomon XR Mission Trail-Running Shoes - Women's:
I recently got into running at the beginning of last fall. I've been running 5K's and various local trails both paved and non-paved. So far, this shoe has held up great and provides all the support I need for my average running feet. I was also surprised at how light this shoe feels for a trail shoe. The one downside is the lacing. Love the laces because once they are tightened and tucked in they are out of your way. But they make these shoes take forever to put on, because you have to loosen them and then tighten them like snowboard laces every time and tuck the extra into the tongue of the shoe. But lacing is not a big deal to me (the few extra seconds are worth it) as long as I feel great running in this shoe.

This is the best Trail Running Shoe I've ever owned, and I will be buying another pair when my current ones wear out. I was hoping the advertised pavement to trail shoe meant that I could also wear these for roadrunning, but have found they aren't quite cushioned enough for the impact of the road. still very worthwhile to buy for your trail running!

Comments about Salomon XR Mission Trail-Running Shoes - Women's:
I have a plate and eight pins in my right ankle, so I was looking for a mostly rigid trail running shoe that would cushion impact and give some relief to arthritic joints. I can say that after not being able to run at all for 20 years, I'm now running with little discomfort about 3 miles each day.

I love these shoes. They are perfect for trail running or just taking my dog for a walk. I love that they are easy to put on and the color is just girlie enough so I don't feel like too much of a Tom Boy when out on the trails :)

Comments about Salomon XR Mission Trail-Running Shoes - Women's:
When I purchased these shoes I was looking for a trail shoe that would offer good traction on variable surfaces, light weight, comfort, and preferably speed laces. I have been running in these shoes for about a month and I have been very happy with their performance.
Surfaces: I have run on dirt trail, gravel, grass (wet and dry), shredded bark, and dried grass clippings and am very happy with the footing. I have not run with these shoes on hard pavement so can't comment on that.
Weight: Very light for a trail shoe. They feel more like my road shoes then any trail shoe that I have tried. This was the feature that actually motivated me to purchase these shoes.
Comfort: I agree with the other reviewer, the shoes feel a bit sloppy in the toe box. While I have worn these shoes without socks they feel better with a mid weight running sock. I have gotten the knack for pulling the speed laces tight at the toe before pull at the top. This takes some of the sloppiness out of the toe box.
Speed Laces: LOVE them! I have purchased after market speed laces for running shoes (for triathlon) but nothing compares to what Salomon has come up with.
Bonus: Dry quickly. After running through morning dew or sprinklers the shoes seem to dry very quickly (I have not totally submerged the shoe so can't comment on that).
Salomon, can you please fix: The top of the tongue on these shoes has a little pocket to tuck the lace end into. In the size 10 pair that I have the laces lay over the top of the pouch and it is difficult to tuck the ends into. The work-around is to pull the pocket free before the final synch. This is annoying but doesn't take away from my overall satisfaction with this shoe.
While this shoe is not "perfect", I really look forward to my trail runs with these shoes.

Comments about Salomon XR Mission Trail-Running Shoes - Women's:
Overall I really enjoy the features of this shoe: speed lacing, lace sleeve, sensiFLEX for the sides of my feet, OS tendon, women's specific last etc... I normally wear a size 10 trail shoe but these shoes felt a bit big in the toe box and a little sloppy during a muddy snow run. My toes were all over the place but arches felt supported as well as my heels. I would probably get a 1/2 size smaller if I got these shoes again. Did I mention how much I LOVE the speed lacing?!? :)
